If I had a radio station here in L.A. -- Peep out the songs I would have in rotation!

This is a discussion on If I had a radio station here in L.A. -- Peep out the songs I would have in rotation! within the Westcoast forums, part of the Hip-Hop Central category; Wouldn't that idea be dope?????????? Make a whole new radio dial frequency and put in somewhere like 97.5 or 90.5 ...

Make a whole new radio dial frequency and put in somewhere like 97.5 or 90.5 or somewhere where the other big stations are away from us...

and start a PURE hiphop station.....

and get this... if I was program manager/director...

this is the rotation I'd put in the mix (TELL ME WHAT U THINK):

first song ever to play on radio would be:

1. GROWING UP IN THE HOOD - MC EIHT (cus nobody plays that damn song no more!)

2. DEAD HOMIES - Ice Cube (from the KILL AT WILL album)

3. SHORT DOG'S IN THE HOUSE - Too Short (we'd have profanity censor machines to take out cuss words allowing us to play whatever we want)

4. POSSE ON BROADWAY - Sir Mix A Lot (The idea is to play songs that regular radio NEVER play no more)

5. I CALL SHOTS ROUND HERE - Kurupt (A message to the rival radio stations)

6. NO MORE ??'s - Eazy-E (Why didnt this song ever get played on any POWER or THE BEAT?? ... Those stations suck)

7. PARLAYIN' - Ant Banks (How many of you westcoast heads remember that song)

8. 93 TILL INFINITY - Souls of Mischief (They had catchy voices and brought a new style to the west...)

9. SOUL FLOWER (REMIX) - Pharcyde (The "farmer man" had the nicest line in that song... blew me away)

10. SOMEBODY FARTED - Bobby Jimmy and the Critters (for the true oldschool westcoast folks --- this is Russ Parr from KDAY that did parities to rap songs and this one attacks HAMMER's LETS GET IT STARTED .... I bought this CD and it rocks!)

Then.....

during on given times of the day --- DJ's rotate with different shows and play other hiphop... eastcoast hiphop also...

1. AGE AIN NUTHIN BUT A NUMBER - Chi Ali (So Cali folks love this song till this very day)

2. BUCKINGHAM PALACE - Canibus

3. GASFACE - 3rd Bass (Even most of the west had to think HAMMER wasnt all that too when we simultaneously wanted to dance like him!)

4. JAZZ (We Got..) - Tribe Called Quest (Slept on from reminiscin)

5. FUNKY DIVIDENDS - 3 Times Dope (Some of the mediocre artists to me is doper than the mainstream rappers that gleam ice and cristal everyday)

6. STATIC (w/E-Crof) from Full Force (How many of you remember that rapper... that cartoon imaginary rapper from Full Force?????? He's doper than most and taken to the darkness!)

7. I GOTCHA OPIN REMIX - Black Moon (I swear I'll shoot you all that live in southern cali if you CANNOT appreciate all their albums!!!)

8. WHUTCHA WANT - Nine (This cat has a better rugged voice than Busta, ODB or Lil John do... so why did he fade so fast??)

9. MEMORY LANE - Nas (I just wrote this down because listing any song from any album he's done would flood this thread horribly)

10. COLD LAMPIN WITH FLAVOR - Flava Flav (From IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS... how could radio move over and forget about PE?????? ---)

The new age of radio rap play should aim more on SONGS that never made to the limelight.

Playing the songs that are GOOD and songs from the past that were GOOD that got slept on is the new thing to do ... because it returns artists back to the limelight with the past tracks they use to do.

92.3 KJAM plays oldschool R&B --- so why not dedicate a rap station with oldschool hiphop and songs that never made it to the radio that we all knew and loved??????

I could name so many that didnt hit mainstream that shouldve...

- Fresh Prince and jazzy Jeff
HERE WE GO AGAIN
HUMAN VIDEO GAME
AS WE GO (omigosh... i'd play this all day)

- Eazy-E
NO MORE ??'s
EASYER SAID THAN DUNN
ONLY IF U WANT IT

hell you guys continue some of the songs that shulda been exposed more.

What do u think??
