i was also thinking of the audiophile usb one, but my friend bought it and said it wasn't good for the type of things i'd need to do... dunno tho... i've heard complaints and praise for that...

id seen the edirol interfaces but didnt have enough info on them,...so are they true interfaces or do they just facilitate recording? would i have to have my laptop sound card upgraded for it to reproduce the recordings better than it does now. everything currently sounds like crap.

the ua-5, i use it just for recording... it has a built in preamp... hmm... not much else... i'm a producer, and had to buy a seperate midi interface to work with midi... but that was no problem for me...
