ya the sox sweep the mets but we were in our first slump of the year on the road with the yankees up next and 2 of our pitchers were pitching hurt.

THey win they get credit but dont act like it proves anything..

And lol @ you getting on the yanks when despite their injuries they are right their with the red sox who have a high ass payroll as well.. YOur acting like the red sox have the best record in baseball and are ahead of the yanks by 10 gms..

dont get your feelings hurt. youre not the only team with injuries. in case u forgot, the red sox have wells, clement, foulke on the DL, crisp was out for two months, our middle relief blows, etc. so dont cry to me about injury problems when just about every one of your starters makes 10+ mill a year.

financially, steinbrenner doesnt make as much off the yankees organization as u think. thats why he has the yes network tied in for tax purposes. thru his taxes every year, he claims that the yes network makes 1 dollar profit per year and diverts its income to the yankees organization to pay such things as payroll, luxury tax, vendors, etc.

of course the man is making money somewhere somehow, whether it be ticket sales, merchandise, what have you. otherwise, he wouldve sold the team by now.

but where do u draw a line? 300 mill? 400 mill? when do u say enough is enough for a second place 35 and over crap club?

despite the yankee payroll they make the most money in baseball..they have the highest profit magrin...they sell the most on the road their network makes them money..

i think it is crazy to have a payroll that much higher than other teams but its not against the rules and who are u a sox fan or me a met fan to complain when our payrolls are high as well and if our teams had yankee money would be paying the same amount..

its not a matter of how high our teams' payrolls are

its the fact that there are teams like the pittsburg pirates and the florida marlins who cant get fans to the ballpark to justify a payroll higher than 15-30 mill

yet the yankees have a payroll that is 74 million higher than the next highest payroll... 74 MILLION

that difference alone is higher than 60% (or more) of other MLB teams TOTAL payrolls

thats unnecessary

it WILL end up screwing the yanks in the long run because, as we can all see, it is becoming a place where tired old vets go to get one last big payday before they retire (i.e.: unit, sheff, moose, damon, etc)

and steiny is gonna be up in arms when he is paying several retired players' contracts
