i was hoping that if any of the starting 5 had to leave, it would be ben wallace. he really doesnt do shit for the team, and if it werent for him the miami series probably woulda been at least a little less depressing (honestly, a professional basketball player should NOT be that bad at shooting free throws). ben's thing is that he makes the occasional big impressive play and he'll consistently get you 10-12 rebounds a game.

as far as i'm concerned tho, fuck him. he's leaving the place that turned him into a perrenial all-star and defensive player of the year for an amount of money that really probly wont mean shit to him.

the pistons may not win 64 games next year...but they'll win more than the bulls.

well, to be fair, that post was made just minutes after i heard he signed with chicago, and i was basically just thinking he can fuck off.

actually everything you said is pretty valid. the thing is there were only a couple of teams he could succeed on the way he did in Detroit and the best team for him to really strive on was the Bulls. this is an excellent fit for the Bulls and not really that bad of a move for the Pistons. Antonio is a stud and he should do well for the Pistons. however it would have been nice for them to have Darko now. but this is a good situation for the Bulls and not that bad of a loss for the Pistons.

The thing with the Pistons is now they need to generate offense and they can't rely on their defense to help force turnovers because Ben was obviously the anchor of their defense, on any given night where their opponents' jump shots weren't falling, the Pistons would win because there was no way they'd dominate the Wallaces. They have to become a high paced scoring team now.

flip saunders is the worst thing to happen to detroit. i don't see how any piston fan tolerates him after his team's peformance in the playoffs. first, he upsets big ben to the point where he complains through the media that they don't practice enough defense. second, he watches as his team completely collapses in the conference finals. when a team that good during the regular season collapses in the playoffs (struggles vs cleveland, routes against miami), a lot of the blame has to be put on the coach. i have to believe that a big reason ben left was because he preferred skiles type of play of saunders'.

others will realize this soon enough. poor flip. he's always a nervous wreck anyway, look at him on the sidelines during games!
