Kobe is my favorite player in the league and have been for at least 5 however I thought Nash was the MVP and the voting took place the thursday after the last day of the season so the series did not influence the vote. It is a regular season award.

^^^ U must not REALLY follow basketball. Chauncy Billups is invaluable to that team. They'd be a playoff team without him, so he doesn't deserve MVP, but to compare him to Carlos Arroyo is NBA blasphemy

All I'm saying is, Chauncey is over rated. Is he a nice player? Yes. But he also has 4 all-stars playing alongside of him. Notice in Boston nad Minnesota he did nothing... dude was the 3rd pick in the draft!

His numbers haven't changed all that much... I think in Det. he's avg. an extra 4-5 points... but his shooting pct. is about the same...

the MVP should go to the player on a winning team that if you took that player away, the team would tank...

yea but billups is still valuable to the team. I believe just as much as Nash in this case it is more about the better team. IMO it should first go to the player with the best season then to the best player on the worst team and go all the way down to the best player on the best team if I were voting thats how I would have looked at it

Jordan won all those MVPs just for that reason... Aside from Scottie, he had Luc Longley/Bill Cartwright, Horace Grant/Dennis Rodman, and Paxson/Harper/Kerr around him... You take Jordan out of that equation and they're lucky to win 42 games..

You take Billups out and the Pistons are still winning 55-60 games...

thats not true... the year that jordan left the bulls went 55-27.....

However, if you replace billups with Sam I Am The record would be about the same. Maybe 60 games instead of 64. He is one of the top 2 or 3 pgs right now but MVP I do not think so based on the talent around him.

Wallace was one of the top 3 PF in Portland, Wallace #2 was d-player of the year before billups, and the team stepped up to the next level when they added portland wallace....

so ur sayin if u put Luke Ridinour in the starting lineup for detroit at point that they would still win 60? i cant wont and refuse to see it. They would still be a playoff team but u could put Billups on anyother team in the league and it would make them a much better team
