Theres no way to compare MJ's defense to Kobe's cuz the rules were different back then. If MJ played today he wouldnt be as effective a defender as he was back then. I think him and Kobe are on the same level defensively. As far as offense goes MJ probably was more skilled than Kobe but theres no positive way of proving it since Kobe didnt play back then. And no matter if people want to admit it or not, defensive schemes are more complicated than they were back in the 80's and early 90's. Thats why scoring is down and they implimented the no handchecking rule. Theres really no accurate way to compare the two. Its like saying whos better Shaq or Wilt? Theres no way of knowing cuz its two different eras.
