Bears fans enter
I know that we have wanted a real passing game for a while now, but am I alone who doesn't like this. This is not who we are. We are a hard nosed, smash mouth city, and we are used to a hard nosed smash mouth team. I want a real OLine and I want to run the football down the opponent's throat. Maybe its just me.

lol...It has nothing to do with him. Our defense isn't what it was, and our OLine is terrible. Forte is a good back, but the OLine opens no holes. Its frustrating.

Wait were you not arguing with me a few weeks back about Orton v. Cutler?
Passing yards, even TD's are not NEARLY as important as TD:INT and I'm just gonna leave it at that.

Are you fucking kidding?
He threw a fucking red zone INT.
He literally single handedly took the potential game tying points off the scoreboard.

Yeah but Forte cost us one 1st Round pick, not 2 and a successful QB.
Forte fumbled for like the 4th time in 400 some odd carries, how many red zone INT's did that make for Cutler (I know they ran the stat last night)?
Something like 9 red zone INT's in the past 2 seasons.

Jay Cutler is easily better than Kyle Orton. The point about what the Bears gave up to get him is valid though. If there defense was at the level it was a fears years ago they'd be all set and be a Superbowl contender. Don't really think they are at the moment though whether they're a running or passing team.

Jay Cutler is not better than Orton.
You can throw all the stats and measurables around that you want.
The single most important stat for a QB is TD:TO , which is more or less efficiency.
Jay Cutler will throw for more yards, more TD's, maybe even better QB rating (though Orton is currently better) all of those are meaningless.
Cutler also has a bigger arm, and better mobility- and the funny thing is that all of that means nothing when you're throwing 1:1 TD:TO ratio.
Meanwhile Orton is something like 7:2 and that's cause his 1 measly INT this year was on a meaningless Hail Mary to end the 1st half.
All the measurables in the world mean jack shit, you can't measure decision making which will always be the most accurate measure of a QB's success.
It's always gonna be like that though, Orton will win games while people say "if/and/but Cutler...."
Orton makes less mistakes than Cutler, and that directly correlates to more wins.

Not all QBs are necessarily required to do the same thing. It sounds stupid but that's how it is in football, different systems and personnel you're dealing with. I agree Orton makes less mistakes than Cutler but I'd say Cutler makes more plays than Orton so in the end it's just a matter of preference.

Eh I'm just not particularly sold on Cutler.
Even that whole he doesn't have weapons talk, even though I agree partly.
For instance, that TD he threw Olsen last night, he threw the pass behind Olsen, who made a pretty good play to bring it in.
Orton is better, Cutler is potentially much better than Orton, but he isn't better than him right now.
Cutler has: A stronger arm, more mobility.
Orton has: More accuracy, makes better decisions.
So the only thing Cutler has done better than Orton up to this point is choose better parents.
Orton is better than Cutler at things that Cutler can work on though, only problem is sports are littered with guys that are underachievers and there are a few overachievers.
Orton is an overachiever, Cutler is an underachiever.
At some point people have to stop being so fixated on "what if" and start paying attention to "what is".

So Seeson what's the trade looking like now?
Our "franchise QB" Cutler went out there and had another underwhelming performance.
2 TD's luckily, to go with 2 INT's, top it off the TD Olsen caught was thrown behind him (Cutler threw quite a few bad balls).
Cutler turning it over for every TD he throws????
I had to see it with my own eyes because it's not like Cutler has an EXTENSIVE HISTORY of doing just that...right?
Who's fault is it this time? The OL? Maybe the WR's? The bye? Global Warming?
Not to worry though our blameless "leader" took the liberty of wiping his hands on the WR's though, is that another well documented habit of Cutler's or did his lack of accountability for his mistakes just materialize out of thin air???
Great trade though, it's really working out for us, were now 3rd in the division thanks to the last egg Cutler laid

I'm not concerned with Jay, if we establish a running game and get better olinemen, I think we will be the best team in the NFC.

Oh so basically we have to put the perfect team around him to be successful?
So why again did we give up so many draft picks for Cutler?
We could have used those picks to put that talent around Orton.
We got hosed plain and simple.
We now have a QB in the same predicament (though he'll probably lose more games) as Orton last year with no draft picks to remedy the situation.
Great strategy I see were taking the "shoot ourselves in the foot" approach to winning the race.

You have the same perspective I had immediately after the trade. The way I look at it though, Angelo has a history of drafting poorly. At least we took a chance to be good. We weren't winning the superbowl with Orton. With our current team we won't win the superbowl with Brady, but at least by trading for Jay we have a franchise qb for at least 10 years. If we can get a great defense again within 10 years, we will have a qb that can actually win the big game for us instead of not losing it (like Orton) or lose it for us (like Grossman).

Yeah Orton is really managing the game lets see his last two games:
vs. Patriots 300 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's
vs. Chargers 230 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's
Do you see any glaring difference between a typical Orton stat line compared to a Cutler stat line?
We have a QB who can win us a big game?
Earth to Seeson, this year 0-2 in "big games", last year 0-3 in "big games".
He plays his absolute worst in big games, he sure can light up the Lions though.
Orton has 1 INT this year.
1 interception and that was on a Hail Mary to end the half, it was fucking intercepted by Randy Moss (yeah Randy Moss).
I'm gettign tired of hearing how Cutler supposedly makes plays, yeah he makes plays every QB makes plays, the only problem is that half of the plays Cutler makes are boneheaded plays.

I guess we're just different. I think the majority of our problems on offense lie with Ron Turner and his play calling. Jay is a proven pro-bowler, so I will take my chances with him.
