Boxing Rumors (Potential Fights)
This is what I'm hearing as of right now for 2008 going forward.



Margarito Options:

vs Judah/Clottey winner (Judah more so)
vs Shane Mosley (if he beats Mayorga)
vs Oscar (if Oscar steps up)
vs Paul Williams (if Tony wants it)

Cotto Options:

More than likely he's gonna take a little time off

vs Judah/Clottey winner (Was gonna be a unification fight in PR had Cotto won)
vs Margarito (In 10 days or so they will examine that path)

Oscar Options:

vs Pacquiao (if he wants to go out with a win)
vs Margarito (if he wants to go out not looking like a bitch)

Paul Williams Options:

vs Winky Wright (at 160)
vs Margarito


Then you got other stuff getting ironed out...

Jermain Taylor vs Jeff Lacy (Lacy talking bout he's retired now cuz he wasn't offered enough money)

Jermain Taylor vs Winky Wright (Winky is now open to a rematch)




Thoughts? and which fights would you like to see go down?

i'd want margarito to face williams again to establish a true lineal champion in the division. but realistically, he's probably going to face the winner of the clottey/judah match (who i think will be clottey) to unify the WBA/IBF belts.

i don't think cotto's going for an immediate rematch. another devastating loss at the hands of margarito means the end of cotto as an elite fighter. look for him to take on a decent, but flawed fighter at the beginning of 2009. maybe someone like estrada or guttierez to get his confidence back (even though i don't think he'll ever be the same fighter again).

oscar's going to fight pacquiao and destroy him. no way de la hoya chooses to fight margarito, but he would get major props from me if he does. but i don't think oscar wants to go out with a loss for his career finale.

williams might get a mandatory out of the way for the remainder of 2008 and then there are talks of fighting wright for 2009. i don't think the fight with wright will materialize; i see williams' camp coming to their senses sooner or later.

lacy's pissed because he was offered $550k for the taylor fight, but that's basically how much he's worth right now. i see him taking the money and losing to taylor in the fall. if taylor wins, who knows, maybe we'll get a rematch with taylor and wright at super middleweight.

But Oscar De La Hoya vs Pacquiao? WTF?

Pacquiao started his career under 110...and he's going to fight a Junior Middle?

yeah, it's a really retarded matchup. pacquiao has no chance to win this, but i'll see how HBO tries to hype this one up and hopefully all you gamblers can make a killing off of this fight a la mayweather/hatton.

but money talks and it's a fight that both de la hoya and pacquiao want for financial and legacy value. for de la hoya, he gets another $30+ million payday plus a win to close out his career over a perceived "mexican assassin".

for pacquiao, he'll probably net $15-20 million, easily the biggest purse of his entire career. if pacquiao loses, it doesn't hurt him too badly; he could just move back down to lightweight and people would attribute his loss to fighting with a huge size disadvantage against DLH. but if he somehow pulls off a miracle and catches de la hoya with a lucky punch or perhaps manages to cut de la hoya leading to a stoppage, then pacquiao's legacy and future paydays would skyrocket.

so basically it's win/win for both. pacquiao has nothing to lose and everything to gain. de la hoya has an opportunity to close out his career with a win over one of the biggest names in boxing with minimal risk involved (as opposed to fighting someone like margarito).

De La Hoya and Margarito would be a decent fight. I don't think Oscar want this fight though. Respect to him if he does, but he couldn't outlast Margarito.

Actually-Zab is fighting at a level beyond where he used to be at!

He did a better Job against Clottey than Margarito-and had the fight went the distance Zab coulda have still been a factor.

It was even on the scarecards @ round 8-the last full round which was won by Zab.

Zab seems to be the only fighter whose stock will go up after a contraversial loss...


People still want to watch Zab Judah fight(he's still hungry)
