Who/What does your team NEED before trade deadline?

No fantasy bullshit...

Don't need to hear how the Yankees need Hamilton and the rest of the Rays starters in order to make the playoffs....

Just real team needs, trade rumors looming before the deadline and possible key call ups from your farm leagues.

The Rays needs

Closer - With Percivals constant hamstring injuries putting our bullpen and game holding ability at risk, we've been looking on picking up a solid closer to help us during our race.

One thing though...We're not trying to dick ourselves like many teams have done in the past trading away key prospects only to fall short...

Here's our options/ who we've been talking with:

Huston Street - Oakland A's - I'd love to have street in a Rays uniform.
Brian Fuentes - Colorado Rockies

RHB -

5 out of the starting 8(Navarro is a switch hitter)batters in our line-up are lefties. We need to add some right handed power to the line-up.

Here's our options/ who we've been talking with:

Xavier Nady - Pittsburgh Pirates
Jason Bay - Pittsburgh Pirates

Also....I was a firm believer in keeping Price in the minors and let him build on his pitches....but the kid is 8-0 with a 1.63 ERA in 10 starts...

He needs the Joba Chamberlain treatment....Work him slowly into the bullpen closing out blowouts or holding games that are well in hand. Continue to increase his workload and responsibility until we try him as a starter....

Now's the time.

1. re-sign teixiera
2. jurrjens and campillo need to stay consistent
3. francoeur needs to get his bat going
4. we need to figure out who the center fielder is going to be
5. definately need more dominant closers and 1 more starting pitcher after we lost smoltz

I think the Cubs NEED:

1.) To stay healthy
2.) I'd feel a little more comfortable with some more relief pitching. Another ace would be nice, but I know that's out of the question.

I'm pretty much straight with our lineup actually. Marmol shows flashes of brilliance, he just needs to get his control down.

Nice thread portz.

First of all we need Damon, Matsui and Wang to get well.

Honestly we don't need to go out and get no bats, we need to get more contribution out of the hitters we already have. Our bullpen has looked great so I have no complaints there but I wouldn't mind picking up a nice starter for the rotation maybe AJ Burnett. Someone we can plug in until Wang gets well and then continue to pitch for us

Cubs need 1 lefty reliever and that's literally it. Unless Theriot falls off hard in the 2nd half, in which case they would need to make an insurance move now.

White Sox pitching has done suprisingly well...
almost reminisicent of 2005
another setup guy would be nice though...
and they could definitely use a speed lead off hitter
Cabrera usually leads off i think?
he's had a solid first half...
maybe trade Uribe for an experienced reliever
