NFL Week 1 Primetime Schedule Announced...

For the fifth consecutive season, the defending Super Bowl champion will open the season by hosting the NFL Thursday night season kickoff. The 2008 regular season officially opens on Thursday, Sept. 4 when the New York Giants host the Washington Redskins at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.

The kickoff will be 90 minutes earlier than the start time of the traditional season opener due to the Republican National Convention.

The Week 1 Sunday night primetime contest will feature a rematch of of Super Bowl XLI, with the Chicago Bears at the Indianapolis Colts at 8:15 p.m. ET. It will mark the Colts' first game in their new home, Lucas Oil Stadium.

The first Monday night of the 2008 season will feature a doubleheader for the third consecutive season. In two matchups of division rivals on Sept. 8, the Green Bay Packers will host the Minnesota Vikings at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the Denver Broncos at the Oakland Raiders at 10:15 p.m. ET. Both games will be televised on ESPN.

Based on what the teams look like right now those are some shitty matchups

edit- Didn't see the Colts-Bears one...that ain't too bad I guess

you jus have to take into account why those were picked even though the whole week 1 isn't out...

giants are champs, might've been a better pull with cowboys as an opening season rivalry game

colts only got picked cause they have a new stadium, sorta like how the nationals openeded the mlb season (this one is the worst game of the 4 interest wise for me)

packers is cause 1st home game without favre, and see how AP does to start the season

raiders/broncos is a big rivalry, hall is there now, mcfadden might depending on the #4 pick, and russell will open the season

i'm waiting to see the turkey day/xmas games as well, they better be good this year, it's always blowouts on holidays

matchups are never what they seem.

titans better get some prime time love this year because vince has his best games on MNF.

^^^whole week 1 schedule isn't out yet, so we can't really say if the other games are better yet, ya know?

hopefully the raiders shine though, and the saints get a W the 1st week (crosses fingers that game is televised on my tv)...dumbass comcast doesnt' offer nfl sunday ticket
