NFL 2008 Draft Approaching

And it can't get here soon enough! I'm not really into basketball so i'm very grateful that baseball season is about to jump off. But I'm anticipating the NFL draft and upcoming season more than anything. My Dolphins hold the number one pick and i'm interested to see how Ireland and Parcells are going to play their cards. As I see it, adressing DT through free agency indicates that Glenn Dorsey is a no go. We are stacked at running back so Run DMC is out of the question. So to me it comes down to Jake Long, Chris Long or Matt Ryan.

I'm back and forth with what I think about Matt Ryan. I've followed him through out his college career and i'm a pretty big fan. I hear alot of mixed things about him. Some people believe he's a franchise QB but on the other hand alot of people don't. What I get from watching him on a consistant basis is that he finds a way to win. He can make all of the NFL throws, he's accurate, has pretty good mobility and a decent to above average arm. But deep down, I don't think he's much of an upgrade over John Beck. I just get this gut feeling that John Beck is the future at the QB position for the Finz. So I think we should pass on Ryan and if Beck sucks we'll still have a high pick in next years draft to snag another QB.

I would be satisfied if we get either Jake or Chris Long. I'm leaning towards Jake at OT. Drafting him we could move Vernon Carey back to RT. He'll lock up LT for us for the next 10 years.

Or if we could get a couple of draft picks for JT we could draft Chris Long to replace him at OLB in the 3-4 and adress OT with the 32nd pick..... I'm just interested in hearing what you guys would like your teams to do and what you expect from this draft.

they shortened the 1st round picks from 15 mins to 10 mins this year

I haven't really kept up at all on it this year. I know I'd like for the Bears to draft a stud safety to compliment Manning. The probably won't. OL needs help badly. But I still wouldn't mind them taking a RB, maybe Mendenhall. Let's convert Benson into a fullback.

i'd LIKE the titans to take 7 receivers, ensuring that at least one will be with the team in 3 years

but realistically...they should take malcolm kelly or limas sweed in the 1st, but if they're not available they need to take: DE quentin groves, LB jared mayo, or CB antoine cason

the titans are straight receiving wise as soon as they picked up crumpler

they gonan draft some more wr's more than likely though, but you seen what crumpler did with the falcons with a fast qb...now he gotta fast qb with better accuracy

michigan state receivers scare me, thomas seems like another combine bust (probably a la chris henry)

desean jackson seems about as ready for the nfl as i am. dude's like 175 lbs and 6-0. miami thought ted ginn would have a hester-esque impact, but no, not every great college return man becomes like devin hester, clearly.

i think malcolm kelly is the best receiver in this draft by a MILE, but i'd be okay with sweed.

but i totally see the titans taking a receiver in the 2nd instead of the 1st, they hate drafting 1st round receivers.

fuck matt ryan, if the fins take him ima be pissed off... dude is not good enough to be the 1st overall pick no way...

cant go wrong with either of the Longs... i wish we didn't play the 2 gap 3-4 that parcells plays though because I still love Dorsey, think he is the best player in the draft but he just wouldn't fit well in our defense right now...

im leaning towards Jake Long because realistically we need more than 1 olineman in this draft... we got rid of a lot of Olineman this offseason and only picked up Smiley so we NEED lineman... its a deep tackle class though so even if we did pick up C.Long at 1 we could get someone like gosder cherilus at 32 which wouldn't be bad...

our line right now is Carey at LT, and its clear hes a better RT, he'd be a probowler there... Satele at C (though he can be moved to guard, but id rather not do that), and smiley at LG, thats it... Mormino could come in and take that RG spot but hes still unproven and we got no one for RT, we need olineman and Jake Long will be a beast, even if he doesn't start at LT right away he can play RT and keep Carey at LT and they can switch when/if Long is ready for that spot and can play it better than Carey...

Malcolm Kelly's knees are going to send him to round 2....he's dropping fast.

I'm actually ok with Sweed. Something just tells me he's not round 1 talent. He didn't do anything in college, so why should we think he'll do something in the pros?

Manningham is my favorite, but theres bias. But shit, I'd rather go DE and hope to get Adarius Bowman in the 3rd. His senior bowl and combine have shoved him way back, but he'll still be a beast.

Oh, Chris Johnson is the truth. I'm rarely big on combine guys, but he's easily as good as McFadden. (another guy that's all speed, no cuts or strength)

Chris Johnson actually has better vision, breaks tackles, and makes people miss. McFadden hasn't shown any of that in years.

true, but when cam cameron addressed dolphins fans ready to riot on draft day he stressed his return skills. those were nowhere to be found.

we had a horrible special teams unit last year bro. Probably the worst in the NFL. Tedd Ginn is going to special. He ran back like three returns for touchdowns that were called back (two in which I saw no penalty) and he returned one punt for a touchdown that held up.... how were they no where to be found?
