I don't agree.

You can't discount Yao Ming's contributions and dismiss his absence from the playoffs. Yeah, the Rockets are looking effective without him in this 8-game winning streak, but he was still a part of the 21-3 stretch that preceded it.

If the Rockets somehow put together another 21-3 stretch or something comparable before they enter the playoffs and blow it, then there's a case.

Right now, as the team is, they shouldn't be favored over most of the Western powerhouses.

I'm getting sick of people always wanting to give "Coach of the Year" to a new coach who is successful with a team or "MVP" to a new player having a good year with a team.

Popovich should get coach of the year. He's there year in and year out regardless of injuries or player changes.

And people don't wanna give Duncan MVP bids, which he should clearly be in the running, but I think Kobe should get it this year with what he's done...even before Gasol got there. And there's no way McGrady should be there.
