The Cleveland Cavaliers appear to have beaten the NBA's annual trade buzzer to get LeBron James some of the fresh help he's been openly craving.

In a three-way, 11-player trade with Chicago and Seattle that has been submitted for league approval, NBA front-office sources say that Cleveland will come away with four new teammates for James, headlined by Ben Wallace from the Bulls and sharpshooter Wally Szczerbiak from the Sonics.

The league office was notified of the deal before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trading deadline, sources said, and is currently reviewing the trade details as required for formal approval.

After Cleveland watched two longstanding trade targets land elsewhere -- Mike Bibby in Atlanta and Jason Kidd in Dallas -- sources say that the deal calls for the Cavaliers to receive Wallace, Szczerbiak, Seattle point guard Delonte West, Chicago's Joe Smith and a future second-round pick from the Bulls.

The Bulls, apparently abandoning their gamble on Wallace less than two seasons into the lucrative four-year deal they used to sign him away from Detroit, would get Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden and swingman Larry Hughes along with Cavs reserves Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown.

The Sonics, shedding Szczerbiak in the name of additional payroll flexibility, come away with the expiring contracts of Cleveland's Ira Newble and Chicago's Adrian Griffin as well as Cavs veteran Donyell Marshall.

Hughes is just inconsistent as fuck and made too much. Ben wallace makes more actually tho lmao. Shannon brown and cedric simmons got no playing time with us so i have no prob seeing them go. Alot of fans love the trade but me myself i dunno yet. Oh yea drew gooden had to go he is a liabilty on defense and we a defensive team

Truth be told idk how this shit gonna affect us. joe smith gonna take over for goodens inconsistent scoring and dumb shot selection wit a solid jump shot. ben wallace gonna help our defense and hopefully he get motivated by playin wit lbj and start yacking boards like his pissed on days

I think Cleveland got the better end. Now Lebron has another solid shooter paired up with Boobie who he can kick out to and an inside defensive presence to make up for goodens deficiencies and Z's soft /finesse style of play. And, not to mention, Delonte West, who can put up decent numbers offensively and is known as a pest on defense. Offensively they're not better... but defensively they get an upgrade. This won't be nearly enough help for the upcoming playoffs tho and now a whole bunch of personnel gotta learn the system in 30 or so games.

the cavs scored big here, and the best piece isn't even ben wallace

west and wally combined are an upgrade over hughes. west is very underrated, just ask boston fans. wally is a legend in ohio from what i hear and he can have like a kapono-like impact on the cavs like kapono did in miami.

swear everytime i see joe smith on national tv he gets 20 points and hits some great 15 foot jumpers, so that's an upgrade over goofy drew gooden.

ben wallace could potentially maybe play great in the playoffs, but i'd rather have his bad contract over hughes' bad one considering hughes is out half of every season. they'll be able to trade wallace in a few years as an expiring contract anyway.

hmmmm...

...gooden was the major loss from the cavs. he is better than every single person involved in the trade. wallace is passed his prime. hughes can still drop 20 and get you a few dimes from time-to-time. wally is hit or miss. i mean. if lebron can still play like he's been playing (minus the turnovers) and everybody plays how they are supposed to play, the cavs should be in the top 3 in the east come playoff time, easy.
