Plain and simple, Rick Ankiel knew how to get back to the bigs - hit a bunch of homers. 95/25 K/BB ratio is absolutely pathetic. Only acceptable if you hit 300.
They would NEVER call up a 314 OBP otherwise. Unless you need a bench player for the short-term.
OBP is important in EVERY spot. The point of baseball is to get on base so you can score runs.
