Good decision when it comes to the 2 teams involved actually its a great decision...

Cubs pitching staff is horrible and the incidents with Barrett and a few pitchers tells that he cant handle that rotation successfully...he has a good bat but they really dont need it right now...

Padres however need a few more bats and getting Barrets bat would help...especially when it comes to getting on base and occasional power...

I think the only one not benefiting from this trade is Barret... The Padres pitching staff is doing a million times better then the Cubs so they are not going to take the chance of putting him back there, you would have to be an idiot to exchange him with that first basemen, and hes too valuable to keep just as a pinch hitter and backup...

All in all I think they keep him solely to trade him somewhere else for another bat....

i think it was dumb to get rid of him when they did.

why not save him untill later in the season and use his and jaque jones stock { who will prolly be traded to the yankees or an american league team sometime this season } to get something you really need.

cubs need middle relief and and solid bat in right field. why deal off a potential gold glover and a 30 home run 80 rbi catcher for a couple scrubs. think they pulled the trigger a little too quick on this one.

shit happens .. but hendry might have let a couple mil slip out of his hands on this one - after a ass load of money was spent during the off season.

It's too early to judge the trade. We may have gotten more for him if we held onto him but man he is a joke behind the plate and we may have been 15 or 20 out by then. Barrett is one of the worst catchers in the league and needs to go to the AL to DH. I wouldn't be surprised if SD flips him to the Angels for something way better than what we got. He can't block balls, can't throw, can't run the bases... he's, to me, a one tool player.

Bowen has great discipline at the plate which is nice to see. This year he got off to a nice start in limited playing time and playing in Wrigley will help his offense get even better. At 26 years-old he's at the stage where it's shit or get off the pot. I don't think he's gonna ride the bench.

Jones and Izzy HAVE to go. They are dragging the team down more than anybody. We're not gonna win this year, we need to let Fontenot and Theriot handle the middle-infield and let DeRosa take over RF.

There's also Griffey, who said he'd waive his NTC to go to the Cubs. That would be the shit if he came over. I guess they'd move Pie to right.

You are fuckin crazy. And he's not gonna jack 30 homers, either.

Our pen has come around in june. Aside from the Howry gaffe the other day, he's been lights-out and Ohman is one of the best lefty-specialists in the league. Marmol is plain filthy. Demp's having a really solid yr (take away his 2 implosions and he has a sub-2 era and a .8 whip.) Wuertz is solid as usual. Eyre is really the only guy not holding his weight.

We need offense and that's it.

no way hes hittin thirty.

BUT we do need one more lights out pitcher in the middle ..

they havent been playing too bad as of late , but those 1 or 2 runs they been giving up is the biggest reason - next to the offense , why they are like 2-15 in one run games.

pick up aanother bat and someone int he middle and we might get over the hump.

I think they won 5 of their last 7 one-run games, which is promising. The pen hasn't been a problem at all this month. Howry is the set-up guy and lately he's been rock-solid. While he fills in for Demp as closer, Marmol becomes the set-up guy, and he's just plain filthy.

We need Jr.

He would vastly improve the offense. Kinda like if Jones actually produced.

Howry's pitched a lot this month and he's having to fill in for Demp while he's out. Like I said, Eyre is the only problem. He's just horrible this year.

The Brewers are so sick Ryan Braun is prolly better than Prince. That team is gonna be very good for a 4-5 year stretch. They brought up their #1 pitching prospect, Gallardo, and their other top prospect just threw a perfect game in the minors.

I'm scared of the Brewers. They are the next Tigers.

and whoever up at the top who says the cubs pitching staff is terrible must be joking. in the top 5 in the nl in both batting and pitching and have been pretty much all year. the w-l record doesnt reflect that but stats are stats.
