NETS GM SAYS IT'S NOT KOBE
REVIVING LAKERS TRADE UNLIKELY

June 21, 2007 -- Sorry, Kobe. Nets GM Ed Stefanski has no plans of reigniting trade talks with the Lakers regarding Jason Kidd in an Andrew Bynum package.

Kobe Bryant is shown on a parking-lot videotape cursing Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak's decision not to accede to the Nets' demands last February and add Bynum to a proposed trade. The Nets, on the verge of missing the playoffs, would have done the deal then. They won't now, not with the Eastern Conference so wide open after the Cavaliers' run to the NBA Finals.

That's not good news for the Lakers - another run at Kidd could pacify Bryant's rage.

"I am very happy Jason Kidd is a New Jersey Net," Stefanski told The Post yesterday after a pre-draft workout. "I love Jason Kidd. We're very happy with Jason. He may have had his best year of his career."

Asked if there were regrets the trade didn't happen or if there were plans to pursue it again, Stefanski said, "None at all."

In a subsequent interview with SNY's Julie Donaldson yesterday, Stefanski said the "Big 3" is safe: Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter and Kidd.

"Right now we are happy with how we ended the season," Stefanski said. "You always want to win a championship, but with the health issue and Richard getting back healthy and (Nenad) Krstic coming back, and hopefully we can do something with Vince (who can opt out of his contract). We feel good about our nucleus. Can we add to it? There's nothing in the works."

The Nets are expected to sign Carter, because the Nets were close to knocking off the Cavs in the second round. The Nets believe if Carter had a better series, they would have won it. Carter likely won't sign unless he's assured Kidd is coming back.

In the video, Bryant expressed fury the Lakers didn't make the deal with the Nets. Bryant reportedly says, "Andrew Bynum, what the [bleep]? Are you kidding me? Andrew Bynum. [Bleeping] ship his [butt] out. Are you kidding me? We're talking about Jason Kidd. But they didn't even want to do that. Now we're here in this [bleeped]-up position."

Told Bynum might be great in 10 years, Bryant responded, "Are you [bleeping] kidding me? I'm trying to win this [bleep] now."

Reports suggest the Bulls are higher on Bryant's wish list than the Knicks because Chicago is closer to winning a title. The videomakers reportedly asked Bryant about a potential trade and he told them, "Get a Bulls uniform, fellas."

Nobody gives a fuck about Jason Kidd anymore... he's old and has a monstrous contract. A point guard is NOT the answer out in the west. We need to go big, and that is why Garnett is on his way.

Kobe biological clock is ticking, he turns 29 this year. For many guys his age this is only their 7th, 8th, 9th year in the league, Kobe is going on his 12th. He doesn't have much time left before you see a steady decline in productivity. He wants to be a contender now.. he wants to lead a team to a championship. It is understandable that he would have to come to curse out the GM. Kobe was once Bynum's age.. and guess what he was a fucking allstar too. He doesn't have time to wait for Andrew Bynum is MAYBE pan out in 10 years.. no fucking way. Right now he looks just as promising as Kwame Brown was on the Wizards. A Jermaine Oneal happens what? once every what 5-10 years? and he's not even THAT great. To not trade an allstar caliber player for such a young scrub was an idiotic move. The lakers GM is terrible, this is the same guy that traded Shaq for shit and brillo pads. Kobe has every reason to be angry at the faggot. It's like he's trying to build the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers around Kobe.

If he carried so much about winning he wouldve found away to get along with Shaq. Sure he didnt say trade Shaq or im gone but he did nothing to stop them from trading Shaq and im sure they did it to make him happy.
