Well I think the last two years have showed that he can't.
And the Cavaliers salary cap wouldn't be the problem. Kobe is already under contract, they wouldn't need to re-sign him. I think Dan Gilbert has already shown that he doesn't mind paying luxury tax.
Kobe would be the best possible thing that could happen to the Cavs... LeBron really needs a dependable consistant second option. The chemistry might not work so great with the rest of the team (LeBron already dominates the ball a ton- you'd be doubling that by adding mamba), and I'm not sure Kobe is ready to handle being a second option again, he couldn't the first time.
The problem is the talent. There's no way possible the Cavs can put together a trade more appealing than Chicago.
