NBA ratings as a whole have been down for several years due to lackluster play, uninteresting, spoiled players and the lack of a truly dominating and consistent superstar...

The public won't rally around Tim Duncan because he's boring... Wade is sometimey and injured... Shaq is over the hill... Kobe can't get out of the first round and he has an unlikeable personality... Lebron is extremely likeable, but hasn't arrived yet... Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson all faded... Carmelo Anthony is underrated and doesn't get enough push like Lebron... Gilbert Arenas is the next big thing, but was injured.

The NBA was at its highest popularity during the '90s... and the biggest reason for that was His Airness... ever since he retired the 2nd time in '98, they've been looking for somebody else to replace him, but nobody has really fitted the role well... Kobe is the closest, but not quite there... the media is all over Lebron's cock bigtime, but he is far from MJ and the comparisons should stop now... he's far from Magic Johnson even.

If you swap Kobe with Lebron, the ratings would have been the same. I doubt you even realize why Kobe would get more ratings. Its the fact that it would have been L.A. in the finals. Its all about market size. The NBA needs one of New York, Chicago, or L.A. to have a championship calibur team. I guess you could add Philly and Boston to that as well, but I know that they need one of the big three to be good. It just so happens that aside from the Bulls, the management of the other two is atrocious.

Although the Spurs played an excellent team defense, I have no problem admitting that LeBron stunk it up in the finals. I place more blame on him than the Spurs D. Although anybody would struggle with singular focus they put on him, I believe he was capable of playing better than he did.

HOWEVER, if you can look outside of the 4-game window (some fuck niggas on this board can't), LeBron's fg percentage is never horrible. In fact, he rarely even attempts 30 shots in a game, he only averaged 20.8 on the season with 47 percent shooting. He's regularly shot a better percentage than Kobe for a long time.

LeBron didn't play well but I doubt Kobe would do much better with a focused ring hungry Spurs defense able to gameplan for him for the NBA finals with a week in advance. But then again he might, there is a offensive playbook and that whole triangle offense thing that's designed to suit his strengths, nothing similar exists in Cleveland.
