Athletes who should be working office jobs?
Who are some athletes that need to quit their sport due to utter incompetence, and find something else to do with their time?
Which athletes should just QUIT, and seek an alternate form of employment, because they are wasting space on their field of play, or wasting time on your television?
I nominate Shannon Briggs. He should either slim down to about 250, or get another job, because right now boxing is not for him. Watching him fight is less interesting ( unless you are watching for the comedic factor) than watching a lumberjack chop trees with an axe, stroke by stroke.
He throws about 8 punches a round, and half of them are pawing jabs. He has asthma, which means he should look for something else to do, because at his weight, and with asthma...a career in boxing isn't going to cut it.
He is by far the most unentertaining fighter on the boxing landscape right now. In the Taylor/Spinks fight, Larry Merchant was cutting Spinks down with constant remarks about how his style of fighting was bad for boxing, and bad for those who want to see interesting fights. I wait for the day when Merchant is forced to commentate a Shannon Briggs fight. I can just imagine all of the priceless similies that would come out of that one.. " this fight is like.........." "watching shannon briggs move is like........"
The fight he had against Sultan Ibragomov (sp?) was MORE interesting than his previous fight against Lahovic (sp?), and even in this fight fans started booing from the first round.
It's like he thinks he can win fights just by looking imposing, shrugging his shoulders, and shaking his head whenever his opponent catches him flush.
He only has enough energy to throw one combination every two rounds.
Maybe I'm being harsh, because before he decided he wanted to look like Mr. Universe, he was a credible fighter with a good physique... but now, I don't know how anyone can look at a advertisment or billboard for a Shannon Briggs fight coming to their city and say to themselves " hey, THAT is something I should spend my money on"
I was watching the fight and my mother was sitting beside me. She asked me if I was trying to put her to sleep early by putting this fight on, I told her she shouldn't complain because she didn't have to pay to watch this fight.
