Sampras vs. Federer?

"Pete Sampras will play top-ranked Roger Federer in three exhibition matches throughout Asia in November.

Sampras, who retired in 2002, will challenge Federer on Nov. 22 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Two days later, they will play at the Chinese gambling enclave of Macau. The location for the third match on Nov. 20 has not been determined.

“I am so excited to play Pete and I am really looking forward to visiting Malaysia for the first time,” Federer said. “There is no doubt that we will play some great tennis.”"

I'm hoping it's good, but I have strong feeling Pistol Pete may be in over his head.

Sampras isn't going to win the match .

It's arguable that Sampras would beat Federer if both were in their primes. In that scenario, I think Sampras would win about 60% of the time, but it would depend on the surface each time.

It's not going to be, and it wouldn't be, close whether Pete was in his prime or not (with the exception of the match being on clay).

The article didn't say, but you know they've gotta play on grass at least once because that's the best surface for both, and once on clay because they are both average (relatively speaking) on clay. I imagine hard court for the third. But that's just speculation.

^werd. I mean Federer atleast makes a few clay court finals and really Nadal is the only guy in his way of a grand slam.

And I figured they'd play on grass but when I saw they were going to be played in Malaysia and Macau for some reason clay popped into my head. But yeah they need to be played on grass for the reasons you guys mentioned. Federer would also destroy Sampras on a hard court, IMO.

I used to love Sampras back in the 90's mayne. He was incredible but Federer is a fuckin beast. Sampras vs. Federer is like Jordan vs. Labron 1 on 1 in 2 years.
