Woot! The public's outrage over the Spurs pummelling of the Suns and Lebron's star power guarantees ratings.

With the way the playoffs have unfolded this year there should be plenty of people watching the Finals and rooting one way or the other. People who follow these teams, people that hate these teams, people who think TD is boring, that the Spurs are dirty, that Love Lebron James ( that ride Lebron James), that despise Lebron James.


Hardcore basketball fans:
Their mantra is 'playing the right way.' And what two teams in basketball exemplify this addage more than the Spurs and Cavs? Tim Duncan and Lebron James head the list of unselfish basketball players (shout outs to Stevie Nash), who almost always make the right play. From Timmy's bank shot to the Spurs precision offense to Lebron's Magic like vision to two defensive minded no excuse teams, hardcore basketball fans have much to look forward to.

Follower fans:
There are no city limits when it comes to supporting a team. With that said, the Spurs and Cavs diehards will dutifully tune in to root for their respective clubs whether they live in New York or China. During game day they will be found at the Arena or at a buds house (the one with the big screen), or in the seediest of bars, the grungiest of garages, wherever the game is being shown, ready to whoop it up after every great play, groan at a bad call and hopefully celebrate victory with a beer.

Hater fans:
We know who you are! These are the people who have been born without the genetic capacity to appreciate. They aren't happy unless someone else is miserable. Instead of watching for the chance of seeing something special they watch the games to see people fail. Within this group of fans different schools exist too many to mention. There are Team Haters - who hate on a team simply because they keep on winning, there are the Star Haters - who despise any individual shining and will never give them credit for what they do, but cling to any minute mistake. There are even Regional Haters - who will be happy to hate on you just because you live on the other side of the country. Haters come in all differen shapes and sizes but nne things for sure, they will be watching and waiting to keep on hating.

everyone becomes a team hater eventually. nobody wanted to see jordan get the mvp every year he was playing. no one wants to see the same one artist win the grammy for album of the year every year. conversely, its getting annoying how the hawks, celtics, CLIPPERS (bastards), knicks, etc are in the lottery every freaking year. that's why the nfl has it right. there's only a few teams that stay in the cellar for long stretches at a time and vice versa.

we have short attention spans, and rightfully so. shit gets old quick. especially when we keep seeing the same exact team/player/person doing the same exact things ad nauseam (word of the day).

Cavs did well to get over an almost literal uncoached pistons, as far as depth goes they're very similar teams.

But the spurs have an allstar in tim duncan, plus a more hungry humble team topped with greg popavich.

i think it'd be great if the cavs would do it.

But i dont see it happening, i didnt see it happening against the pistons either, but i didnt think flip saunders would make zero adjustments and play dale davis as much as rasheed wallace. So we'll see.

For the cavs to win that rookie would have to be consistent as he was with the pistons, i think hes gonna be hassled alot more.

I think the spurs are the most superior team by far this year in the playoffs

I dont even think if they keep up with the play they had in detroit they could really beat san antonio, They did it twice in the regular season though.

Should be an interesting series, i wont make any predictions, i'll just watch this time.

But i dunno, i think this may be too much of a mountain for any team to climb this year, Pop is a master at adjustments

I agree with you post Cig. I think Hater fans make up the majority of the viewing audience. If you're not a fan of one of these teams, then it seems MOST people want LeBron to lose or want Bruce Bowen, Robert Horry, Manu Ginobli and Tim Duncan to lose. Not Tony though. Everyone loves Tony because he's a little funny talking french guy and has a fine ass wife.

Last years finals, you didn't have a hero-villian story like you do this year, and you didn't have LeBron. You could argue for days between who is a better player between D-Wade and Bron, but it's hard to deny that James has bigger star power. He's getting a bigger push from the media, league, and it also helps to be with Nike instead of converse. He's going to automatically attract millions more fans that no other eastern conference player can do.

Then Lakers-Pistons, or Spurs Nets, or Spurs Pistons. Lakers-Nets, Lakers-Sixers and Lakers-Pacers. None of those finals looked mucho interesting on paper, I mean there's not really any storylines. Shaq is a popular guy but he plays brutal ball, not the flashy audience eye candy LBJ creates. Kobe was there as well but he was either raw young full blown afro-Kobe or post rape case I think Shaq is fat Kobe. Those Kobe's didn't draw as much attention as "This is my team and I scored 81 points in a game" Kobe does.

The Spurs in their two previous finals were not "villians" like they are now. Tim Duncan said it himself "We're the bad boys now." He's right. Before this years semi-finals they were just a bland boring soft team. Bowen was a dirty player still but the Spurs were not considered a dirty team. Now the script is flipped.

Other than that, what else is there since MJ was in the finals. Spurs-Knicks? I don't even remember watching much of that myself.

The last two finals, America probably felt both teams had a chance at winning. This final, it's general thinking that the Spurs will win, but the fact that the Cavs had no chance to win the last series in public eyes, has the same public thinking they have a chance now, or wondering if they can pull another upset. More interest.

Gotta rank as one of the most interesting finals in awhile, and I know that doesn't mean jack shit coming from a Cavs or Spurs fan, but trying to look outside the box, there's some big rating potential here.

Same here. Almost happened this year in the first round but the Bulls choked their season away to the Nets in the final game of the season.

honestly i think the knicks vs rockets is the best one ive watched so far
first one ill always remember was bulls vs lakers

i think this finals well be better than most probaly think
