old t-mac vs. new t-mac (holla yung lyon!)

i discovered that i've been arguing on behalf of the old t-mac all along

the raw t-mac back in the day who was dropping an average of 31, 6, and 6 on heads in the playoffs and shooting at a respectable percentage

the houston rocket's t-mac is a different story

although i can't really complain about how he played in 2005 against the dallas mavericks... he definitely brought it with 30.7 PPG on 45.6% shooting, 7.4 RPG, 6.7 APG (how can he be blamed at all for that loss???)

yao putting in a leadfooted and winded 31 minutes per game against a dashing run 'n gun dallas mavericks squad along with an aging, creaky and breaking down veteran cast who flat-out disappeared many times were the main culprits in the failure to advance that year



the 2003 orlando magic t-mac in 2007 houston rockets t-mac's place against the utah jazz would have ensured an advance



yung lyon, what is your prediction for his performance in the upcoming season?

Tracy McGrady on the Magic is only SLIGHTLY beneath Jordan (noone can EVER be Jordan)

if he were to play like that now the rockets would be a dynasty, a sure NBA finals team every year.. those were his best days and i know me and all of his other fans hope everyday that he would go back to that mentality and just destroy the league like he did for 4 straight years..

yes u read correctly, the entire 3 years he was in Orlando he was the BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA... and his first season in houston he had that AMAZING playoff series against the mavs.. people have to realize that a HUMAN BEING can only take so much.. put urself in his possition, carrying a team every single year without them helping you and as a result u reach NOWHERE over and over again, it gets tiring, stressful, and u stop carring, u lose the passion for the game and the instinct to win, because u kno u can score at will, basically every time u want to, but why waste ur energy if ur team is only going to hold u back, he CAN play like he did in orlando, he just has to get his drive back.. he CAN drive to the lane and score or draw the foul, but he doesnt because rather than waste his energy he'll pass or pull up for jumpers... he has no faith in his team and refuses to carryin them on his back every night so he has taken the role of a fascilitator or "point-forward".. and that has proven to not be the right way for him, he has to dominate, create problems for the oppositing defense, with the cast he has let them double team him and focus all the attention on him thus getting his teamates easy buckets.. in 2007 teams rarely double team him because hes not as much iof a threat as he was in orlando, their rather put their best defender on him and call it a night, that never used to be enough but these days it is?? lol

WELL, to answer ur question:

i think the new Coach (Rick Adelman) will make him feel a lot more comfortable in the new up-tempo offense and will utilize t-macs fast breaking ability, we will see some more flare and scoring from t-mac this season, the rockets will be a high scoring team under coach Adelman now that Van Gundy is fired..

as we can Recall Rick Adelman is the guy who made the Sacramento Kings a championship contender a couple years back, WITHOUT a star player like t-mac and yao.. he made mike bibbys career along with vladi divac.. im sure he can get things going for t-mac and his surrorting cast.. if rick adelman had been the coach for o6-o7 the rockets would still be playing... before van gundy was fired mutumbo said he was going to retire, bonzi wells was going to leave, along with vspan, not that Rick Adelman is the coach everyone comes back.. lol, coincidence? NO!.. he will turn the team around, he will tern Tracy McGRady around and t-mac will once again be double teamed next season and score some 40-50 point games.. he will be more agressive, be on sports center a lot more and dunk the ball is if he was wearing a magic jersey.. im not saying hes going to lead the lague in scoring for a 3rd time, but he will be a lot more productive than he has been in ANY other rockets season... this will be his best season in houston

one more thing about Coach adelman in hes career is has won 730+ games and lost about 400 lol.. hes an amazing coach, in 14 years he made the playoffs 13 times i think... he made an aging Clyde the Glyde Drex outscore some of these young MJ wanna bes..

"I think LeBron is getting way too much credit for beating Eastern Conference teams. He was only great in game 3 and the overtimes in game 5. In the close out game against Detroit, he shot 3-11 for 20 points. McGrady has never been on a team where he could shoot 3-11 in a playoff game and have a chance in hell of winning, let alone a closeout game. Because of their big men, the Cavs are a great defensive and rebounding team, Larry Hughes is a good perimeter defender, and because they are in the East, LeBron does not always need to be great offensively. If they were in the West, they probably would have been out in the first round.

McGrady has had several playoff series' where he was much better than LeBron was against Detroit. In his first playoff series with Orlando, he averaged 33.8 points and 8.3 assists. He was 21 at the time, LeBron is 22 right now. McGrady has blown 2 game leads 3 times, but the first two times the only reason they had 2 game leads were because McGrady was playing on another level than anyone else in the NBA. In his best playoff game, it took LeBron 2 overtime periods and 33 FG attempts to get 48 points in game 5. McGrady had back to back playoff games in Detroit where he scored 43 and 46, both in regulation. When he scored 46, he only took 26 shots, and made 16(61%). The Pistons had Ben Wallace and a better defense at that time also. The Magic blew a 3-1 lead in that series, but it is unrealistic to expect McGrady to put up those types of numbers throughout the series, especially when the Piston defense could double and triple him and no one else on the Magic could make shots. When McGrady was in Orlando, they had no big men inside to defend the paint or rebound. In the 02-03 regular season, McGrady was a 2 guard, and he led the team in blocked shots and rebounding. No one seems to remember McGrady's great defense against Dirk in the playoffs his first year in Houston, to go along with 30.7 ppg, 6.7 apg and 7.5 rpg. LeBron has never made an impact defensively like McGrady did in that series. The Rockets blew a 2-0 lead in that series, but again, McGrady had to play on another level than everyone else to get that lead.

I think it is very simple minded for people to say that it is as black and white as "LeBron is in the finals, so he must be better than anyone who hasn't gotten their." There are a lot of other factors involved. I don't think LeBron is any better than Carmelo, he just plays in a much weaker conferance. I agree with someones comment that Kobe and McGrady are the premeire wing men in the NBA."

[nba genius]cross-conference comparisons for playoffs are difficult, but this eastern conference team lebron is on has a lot better support than the eastern conference teams t-mac was on... their playoff road was also more favorable from the jump. a gilbert arenas and caron butler-less washington wizards... vince carter shooting 35% from the field and slowing his team in the 2nd round, and the detroit pistons playing very badly due to factors outside of just lebron james[/nba genius]
