Tim Duncan has won with 3 Different teams, and mainly with role players and upcoming talent.
He had David Robinson at the end of his career.
Tony Parker at the start of his and Manu in the middle of his.
That's it! What other all-star players has he had, or great talents? (and no not former all-stars, I'm talking about having an all-star year at the time).
The only constant is Tim Duncan, year after year they just keep plugging players around him and the Spurs keep winning championships. He makes his teamates better by his presence.
Is it any coincidence that the Spurs have the highest winning percentage of any major profesional sports team since he arrived???
He anchors the defense, controls the paint which allows perimeter defenders to be more aggresive, cuz they know TD is back there to clean up the mess.
The offense in the past ran entirely through him. Its only lately with the motion offense and the acquisition of guards that can get into the lane have the Spurs become more versatile on offense. But when it gets down to crunch time, they always throw it to Duncan, and either he takes it the rim, or kicks it out to an open shooter.

Tim duncan couldnt do what lebron james does. He has to have solid people peforming in other positions, mainly ones who dont turn the ball over and come up with consistent offense and killer defense, which Bowen also does who you failed to mention. You take away a parker, a ginobli or a defensive pest like bowen, and the doors fall wide open for another team such as the suns, ect to expose you. Hell, you take away a horry (which you wouldnt have won your last finals with) or a finley this year, i dont give you much of a chance neither.
