He is a bust so far. They drafted him as a HB, not WR. They drafted a HB that they are affraid to give carries to. They will pussyfoot giving him carries and he will always have to be in some 2 back scheme. Cause I guarantee that if he ever becomes the 1 back and gets 20-25 (real carries) a game, he will be the IR superstar.

He has what now? 500 yards rushing maybe? Not worth it. If they wanted a receiver, they could have drafted one and got an extra couple inches of height with it. Everybody said "he would be the best this and that". He's not even the best anything on his own team.

And they put an East/West runner in against a team with very weak LB'ers and secondary. I'd love to actually see him get 20 carries with real head bussa's like the Eagles, Ravens, Redskins etc. But New Orleans won't because they are smart and know he would get tee'd off on. But they feed him carries against wack ass D's so that they can try to make his RB status look justified. Some fall for it and some don't.

MJD has shat on anything anybody said prior to the season about Bush's RB status.

He's a rookie, you can not possible say he's a bust.

He shares the running game with a former Pro bowler Deuce who is a very solid RB. The 2 together developed a one/two punch combo ground attack with their contrasting styles, each compliment each other- one is agile, quick with nimble feet and hands along with an arsenal of evasive moves- the other is a great balance of power, cut and rush "grind it out" play that will get an extra few yards on a play destined for only 2-3 yards.

His presence is equal to the likes of Chad Johnson or a Marvin Harrison. He opens up the receiving game for Colston like great receivers open up the running game creating a balance offense. He's been projected to do so great. With the hype and glory comes "jealously" for lack of a better word. Teams defense pinpoint him. In other words when teams play the Saints they have a hit out on Reggie. They try to suppress his greatness. He gets nothing easy. Which explains why he has been tackled for loss of yardage more than about any RB in the league this year.

So lets sum this up...
You have to look at his total yardage, and you see a dismal 500 yards but if you look at the bigger picture you see that he did good.

1. He has almost 900 receiving yards.
2. He hasn't had many carries because he has to share. The NFL rushing leader LT has more than twice of amount of carries because he doesn't have to share. Who knows if Bush would have been able to get more used to the NFL game more and get just as many touches what would have he done? Maybe not as good as LT but damn close in terms of yardage.

Dude you're missing the point that he's a RUNNING BACK. If he had 900 yards rushing then we could talk. They did not bring him in as a receiver. He was drafted as a HALF BACK. He is not LT, LJ, or even a better comparison would be Westbrook. Those guys, as well as any other HB's are runners over receivers.

He gets tackled for a loss because he still thinks he's in college and can't grasp running north/south. Dude's literally a dying breed. He's a scat back, it's just too bad that scat back are becoming obsolete because defenses are drafting with a major emphasis on speed over size. Until he learns how to run tackle to tackle, he will not do anything as a RB. I can't honestly think of 1 number 1 back right now who's a scat back. And it's going to be like that for a long time.

Every single team has big bruisers running the ball. Only team I can think who doesn't is the Steelers. If he gains weight and toughens up, he'll be good. If not he'll be another Vick type story- Somebody who was brought in for one purpose, didn't cut it, and had to be moved in order to not be a waste. Cause I do see Vick eventually being moved to another position.

they drafted him to be what he is. and what he is, is a running back who is dynamic on speical teams, has great hand and can break off big runs.

they did not draft him to be the prototype rb you moron they have deuce to be that.

Yea people are WAAAY too quick to call somebody a bust. Running wise, he's been average, but still decent for a rookie. And as dude said, they drafted him to be what he is, and it's worked so far. Not only does he help the offense in unspoken ways, but his overall morale has helped the team to become what they are this season. He has all the tools, plus a lot more, and all it is gonna take is time to adjust to the NFL system. They even said that he would have still been a first rounder as a Wide Receiver...and yeah they drafted him as a RB, but they do have a former Pro Bowler there.

He'll never be an every down back. He can't block, and as of now... he's a mediocre runningback EVEN FOR a rookie.

Oh no. I know everything is going to be fine and dandy while Deuce is there. But it can't be compared to Vince Young because the big thing is Vince allowed the team to move a player (Steve McNair), and also because he is the number 1 guy at his spot. I don't see Bush being able to be a number 1 halfback. So when it's time for Deuce to move on, they're going to have to go get another top caliber HB because they pretty much have a WR who runs it from time to time.

He will not replace anybody. I understand that he does a little of everything, and that's a good thing. But what is required of his position has to be the top priority. It's like having a receiver who does everything but doesn't catch the ball ever. In the end what good is he, if he can't do HIS job. To top it off, I bet if they move him to WR, he ain't as good as he is now. A lot of his stats are made on Safeties and Linebackers. So he kind of has no place.

It's a good problem to have, right now. But once contract time comes for McAlister, it's just going to be one big headache.

Aside from that, he still can't be compared to Vince Young because Vince throws it more than he runs it (does what is required of his position).
