The BCS does it again...
every year people whine and complain that there is going to be chaos because of the bcs, but year after year, we tend to get the right two teams in with little "chaos".

OSU v. Florida is the right game, no question, based on the season played.
last year, USC-Texas was the right game, before that USC-OU was the right choice, LSU-OU the year before that was obvious. I mean, other than those who think Auburn should've been in over OU in 2004, and when Nebraska got in back in 2002 (which was the one time I thought it was wrong), that's absolutely wrong 1 time and contestable once in 9 years. 7-8 years out of 9 getting the best 2 teams playing each other for the championship is about as good as its ever gonna get.

Yeah that Oregon team with Joey Harrington and Maurice Morris got robbed that one year other than that shit has worked out pretty good. They weren't gonna beat Miami that year anyway.

It beats what was around before then when teams were locked into the Big 4 bowl games, ie, Ohio State would be playing in the Rose Bowl, Florida in the Sugar Bowl, Michigan in the Fiesta and nothing at all would be solved.

Actually my only issue with the BCS is teams like Wisconsin and Arkansas not being able to play in a BCS bowl but Boise St. and Notre Dame are in. They got to fix that.

what's wrong with boise getting in? you have to reward a team that goes 12-0. notre dame though, i have nothing but contempt for them.

arkansas and wisconsin can't get in because there is a rule allowing only 2 teams from a single conference, put in place for financial reasons

11-1 in the Big 10 > 12-0 in the WAC
10-3 in the SEC > 12-0 in the WAC

I know the rule and all but you can't talk about "rewarding" teams and then not allow the number 5/6 rated team in the country to play in a BCS game. Arkansas faded late so I can't really argue for them but I'd rather watch them over Boise St. anyday.

people always big up the SEC. Oh it's so great....they beat up on each other, and it's so competitive that teams always end up with losses.... please...

it may be the most solid, but fuck... the sec had 2 good teams this season. TWO. And that's usually how it goes. Florida and Tennessee. Lately Tennessee has been fucking horrible, and florida has just been okay (until this season)....so....



the talent pool in the SEC doesn't run that deep.

Good thing I've learned to just disregard all the stoopid things Rippy says because saying the SEC only had 2 teams this year when last I checked Florida, LSU, Auburn, Arkansas are still in the conference, not to mention the 2nd tier teams like Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina.

undefeated > any other record regardless of circumstances. i don't think boise would go undefeated in the sec, but they could be competitive (they could beat both miss. schools, 'bama, vandy, UK, and maybe south carolina and georgia this year). they don't have sec recruiting base (you may notice they are in idaho) and they don't have SEC money to build SEC facilities, but put that staff down in the south with SEC football money and they would be just as successful. they are a team that gets it done with execution and coaching. going unbeaten against schools with similar talent levels and recruiting bases, budgets and facilities is better than being the 3rd best team among similar programs.

you say you'd rather watch arkansas over boise any day, but have you seen boise play? they score 40 points a game and are pretty entertaining. they will give OU a great game.

40 points a game against WAC conference talent. Arkansas just scored 28 against a Florida defense and Arkansas basically has no QB. And I've seen Boise play twice this year. They're a very good WAC team, that's it. They might sneak up and beat OU too because I don't think very highly of OU this year especially without AP.

I wish people would see the competitive parity, "they beat up on each other" argument as a reason for why the NFC is better than the AFC, as well... since it worked so good for the SEC all these years, which I happen to agree.

Another thing that should be mentioned about the SEC, their nonconference record against other BCS schools during the regular season isn't all that great, but they usually have the upper hands in the bowls year after year. So are they better, or are they average? I don't know. You can say they lose to the BCS teams during the reg season, because of their grueling conference schedule just as much on the flip you can say, they're being exposed. But why do they usually beat those conferences in the bowls?

One more thing is the production of pro players. What conference consistently leads the nation in putting players in the NFL? I think it's the SEC. I'm not 100% sure. So that's another criteria to look at... instead of all of the "they're not better" "they are, too" back and forth talk.
