That muthafucka can box. To be a white boy, I know he's actually mixed (half italian & half welsh) he really brings it.

His website- www.joecalzaghe.com

With 20 something title defenses that's saying something.

He isnt real popular for these reasons.

(1) He doesnt fight in the US.

(2) He has had a history and reputation for ducking people or taking forever to finally fight them (Not just Jeff Lacy).

(3) The 168 lb division has never really been too popular, its a tweener division really. 160 (middle weight) and 175 (light heavy weight) are the two boardering weight divisions which receive most of the popularity.

Unless you are an avid boxing fan you really wouldnt notice that division.

I bet if you ask every day people which weight classes Roy Jones dominated they would say "Middle weight, Light heavyweight and he beat Jon Ruiz at Heavyweight."

yup and its a reason why evander moved up from cruiserweight...he wasnt getting money or recognition...thats why so many people remember him as a heavy.

do you think boxing would be better if they got rid of these Inbetweener divisions?

Like just feather 126 then the next would be lightweight 135 then would be welterweight 147 then middleweight 160 then lightheavy 175 etc?

or do you think thats too much of a weight difference? I think if they did it like that they would have no choice but to toughen up the weight rule and bring back same day weigh ins so fighters fight at their natural weight.

well for the most part I only think the division problems occur at 168 and then cruiser weight.

154 is iffy, I think it is alright though because it had and still has some good fights and fighters... Oscar, Tito, Vargas, Winky, etc

Hell even Bernard fought close to that, didnt he meet de la hoya at a catch weight of 157 for their fight?

ya...he did lol i think he even came in 156 or so...

but ya i think it has to do with weight distribution...they say that a certain weight is fair when it comes to punching power...for example when you start getting heavier like 190 and up you have a chance to punch hard or hang with bigger men...I know jack dempsey and rocky marciano were small heavies...dempsey knocked out jess willard who was huge.

also you had guys like harry greb who were 150 fighting at heavyweight.

who comes to mind is stanley ketchel this guy was something! he was only 21 and he had an impressive record he even challenged jack johnson in a fight and stanley was like 157 pounds but jack johnson knocked him out...

too bad he was killed for being a ladies man...

he was repping Grand rapids Michigan...i guess its in the water floyd is following his footsteps in fighting bigger men.

those tweener weight divisions i think are needed to help people adjust to moving to other weights...

like it would be tough going from 147 straight to 160... or 160 straight to 175.

its the people who try to make a career at these between weight classes that seem to go unknown
