jim rome gets flat out boring after a while, dude just has the worst monotone and can come across as dull at times. yeah sure he goes all out in interviews and calls out idiotic behavior, but the behavior was already idiotic to begin with and he's just there to make some sharp witty remark. his perspectives are just arrogant most of the time.

...not to mention, on his radio show, he can run a joke into the ground 15 minutes after it stopped being funny.

I can't stand Jim Rome.

He's worse than Stephen A Smith. Steven A's personality isn't overbearing, I can listen to what he says if it has sense behind it, but there is something about Jim Rome where.. even if I agree with him.. I can't stand him.

if Stephen A spoke at a normal pace, and in a normal tone of voice, harldy anyone would have any problem with him.

It's funny, Stephen A and Dick Vitale aren't all that dissimilar. They are similar, except that Vitale's biases cause him to pump guys up, whereas Stephen A tears guys down.

Stephen is one of the most disliked journalists/broadcasters in America, while half the world loves Vitale for his weightless opinions.

I like Rome... I prefer his radio show more, though... he just sounds like a regular guy who likes sports... pompous? Fuck outta here! What does have to be pompous about? If you're speaking of his over-the-top abrasive confidence, then that's part of his act... and it's a great act. All you narrow-minded, myopic sport fans can sound just as "pompous" as he does when you start explaining your views. He's no different.

Not to nitpick, but an athlete can never be overpaid. In a captialistic society one's worth is however much someone is willing to pay you, so there is no such thing as being "overpaid"

Too many journalists are "safe" or try too hard to be objective and fair... guys like Jime Rome go against the grain and say the comments that the average sports fan is thinking... Dick Vitale is a color commentator, so everything he says has to be taken with a grain of salt... his whole act is ass-kissing... Stephen A. Smith, I think, is a bit more fair than Jim Rome but he's similar in that he arouses passions with hard views that can go against the norm, like saying Kareem Abdul Jabbar wasn't that great because he was soft on defense... I get hated on for saying Jay Z isn't that great, so I can understand dude... unpopular opinions get judged quickly and harshly by people who are unwilling to think outside the box and stop ass-kissing.
