the red sox are not required to pay the 51.1 million dollar bid to negotiate unless they actually sign him.
if he is not signed, the red sox have no financial obligations to his team and his goes back to the japanese league as a free agent.
by the way, your beloved mets had the second highest bid at 45.5 million.
so i dont wanna hear u getting on the red sox about 6 million more, u just sound like a jealous ex girlfriend.
