People saying he should be suspended for the season are retarded. You've got tons of players arrested constantly for beating women....and you never hear anything about it. But one guy gets kicked in the face and OH MY! Attempted murder! "the single most disturbing action ive ever seen" (seriously, i saw someone say that)
Haynesworth has always had temper problems.

there was a high school baseball player out here that punched a kid in the face because he slid into him cleats up. it fractured the guy's jaw, so because he was 18 and the other kid was 17, they charged him with aggravated assault on a minor, and he ended up getting 8 months in prison and 5 years probation. that was ridiculous. if the kid had just gotten a bloody nose, no one would've cared.
this is just the opposite. he wasn't trying to kill the guy, but when you see someone get stomped and see their head bounce off the ground, it's very obvious that he could have killed him. Forget killing him, what if he had caught gurode's eye with his cleat and blinded him? that takes away his livelihood, no one wants an o-lineman who can't see.
you have to punish the action, not the outcome
the fact that he has always had temper problems is why it's a big deal. if this is what he'll do in a situation that seemed relatively calm, what will he do when he's mad?
and i'm all for suspending players that beat women, get repeated DUI's, have constant drug issues, etc for full seasons too. i make no excuses for criminal behavior, on the field or off, especially in their position.
