Benoit was probably a better straight up wrestler in his prime, but that was years ago, before he signed with the WWF.
Angle is and always has been a better entertainer. Angle is also fucking nuts and has worked through injuries that would put pretty much anyone else on the shelf. Angle might be the best combination of wrestling ability and mic ability in wrestling ever, not to mention that he's actually able to get over as a heel or a face, as a comedy character or a total badass. Benoit can get over, but only if he's booked right and the booking focuses on him being a good wrestler.

Overall, I'd say Angle is better than Benoit.

but id choose angle.. because he can work the mic and plays a good jerk

Benoit's always bored me. Sure, he's good, but not many classic WWE matches that I care to recall.

Angle's done well for someone that grew up never caring about pro wrestling. He brings that real shoot atmosphere, and he's carried some boring guys to good matches.

Yeah, it's a shame how he got stuck in those shitty feuds with worthless guys like Austin, Rock and Angle when he jumped to WWF. Then he only won the main event at Wrestlemania once and only made Triple H tap out two PPVs in a row. I mean seriously, only a five month title reign? Boy, they sure treated him like shit. look at booker t.. he feuded with triple h,.. it did nothing for his career

Five months is a long time for a title reign now. Benoit has been in and out of the main event scene in WWF/E since he got there. He feuded with Rock over the title for a little while in 2000, with Austin over the title in 2001, with Angle on and off for years including a title feud or two, with Triple H over the title in 2004 when he won the belt and kept it for five months. He's been kind of pushed aside lately, but he's been pushed a lot in WWF/E, especially for someone who's not really charismatic and who had a major injury that he was lucky to come back from.

If you want to talk about a short reign, Benoit was WCW champion for one day, and they didn't even recognize it. He would've been pretty much fucked if he would've stayed since Kevin Sullivan was taking over as one of the bookers and he hated Benoit. Probably because Benoit stole his wife. The title run was an attempt to get him to stay, but he probably wouldn't have held the belt for five months, and a cheap win over Sid is hardly the same as making Triple H tap out at Wrestlemania (and again at Backlash). Not to mention that he was a US title level guy at best in WCW before that one day title reign, not really a main event palyer.

And there's a huge difference between getting pinned by Triple H in a middle of the card Wrestlemania match after Triple H took a nice little coffee break between the Pedigree and the pin and making Triple H tap out in the main event. But that's why Benoit jumping when he did was even smarter. By jumping, he became a "WWF guy" when the Invasion happened, not a "WCW guy". Ever since then, WCW guys have pretty much been buried (if they still have a job) while WWF guys have gotten all the opportunities. He ended up on the right side of Vince McMahon's ego.

one pedigree and boom he is out but HBK and Nash could get pedigreed all night long and be able to get up..

he was prolly a joke to certain fans in WCW also..

Benoit got jobbed out when Sullivan was booking and that's what would have happened if he'd stayed. Benoit was a better wrestler in Japan and he was always a top level guy there, but I wouldn't say his career has gone downhill since he left Japan to go to WCW. His matches up to about 2004 were just as good as what he did in WCW. Not only did he get pushed harder in WWF/E than in WCW, but he had better people to work with too. Even now, I doubt anyone really sees him as a joke. He's not the main eventer he was a couple of years ago, but he's still a solid upper card guy. Also, I'm sure that some people thought of him as the jobber of the Four Horsemen too. Even if he was 1000000000x more talented than Mongo.
