Why was Antonio Inoki never "officially" recognized by the WWE as a champion?

Japanese wrestlers rarely get shine in the WWE, let alone, championship reigns (Yokozuna was a fuckin joke) but check out this cat....

he won the title from Bob Backlund at Japan, so just cuz it didn't take place in the US, the WWE fails to rekanize???

he has that last name Anoai like Rosey..and some other of those samoans..

In the indies before the WWE he was billed as Samoan/Hawaian(sp)

lol, Yokozuna was only named japanese because he was so fat that his eye lids drooped over his eyes and made them look real small like japanese eyes.
