Question about "predetermined outcomes"......

Before a match, it's obvious the wrestlers usually know who's gonna JOB and who's gonna get pushed....





But when it comes to moves, do they know exactly what they're gonna do beforehand?


Like, do they have a script of moves they do to each other and shit?


Or do they pretty much "make it up" as they go along?

I notice that the wrestlers "whisper" to each other alot during matches, like "hey this is what i'm gonna do" and shit....but how much of the moves are predetermined, if any at all

I know that they know the basic outline of the match. Its not 100% totally scripted (as far as moves go). They do predetermine the bigger more dangerous moves. But sometimes they use filler to get from one big move to the next, thats where the whipering thing comes in.

Russo used to pretty much script the endings of "important" matches I think.

The best wrestlers make it up as they go along, with the referee reminding them of how much time they have.

Yet there were great wrestlers like Randy Savage that made people hate him because he'd go over every match detail 1,000 times.

Yeah but now in the WWE arent things much scripted down to what moves are used and when? Someone in another forum posted an actual raw script and I was surprised how scripted down to the detail it was...i dont think a match was posted, just an opening segment with vince and angle

you see, this is what makes a good wrestler, and a shitty wrestler.

But firstly let me say.. for the most part.. they make shit up as they go along.. unless they had "predetermined" huge spots before-hand.

They call moves as they go along.. this is why some people said Goldberg was a shitty wrestler.. because he had no idea how to put together a match.

this is in ring psychology.. its basically doing moves in a series.. that make sense.


if youre watching a match going smoothly.. thats probably two great workers.

Actually, they posted the whole script from the WWE return to USA a few weeks ago across the net. And surprisingly it contained only the outcome of the match and how much time the wrestlers had for it, it didn't say moves or anything. Yet, there was incredibly detail for interviews, promos and the announcers, which kindda shows you where the WWE's head is.

But for the most part there's normally about 5-10 minutes of discussions between the wrestlers, or between each wrestler and a 3rd party about the result of the match and it goes from there. Very few matches are scripted all the way through, only the important parts that continue the story are.

A common thing wrestlers will do is tell each other that when they try a move that is when they want the matches finish to happen.

I only seen the opening segment part and i was surprised of the detail..

i figured with people like Vince and Angle that it would have been less detailed

Usually, the company determines the winner by two things:

1) to push a wrestler and promote him into the crowd, usually occurs when a new wrestler/gimmick is introduced.....for example, Rob Conway's "Con Man" image...he is undefeated, or close to undefeated right now. Same with Mr. Kennedy, they are giving him that push by giving him the wins.

2) once a wrestler is "over" with the crowd (they really like him as face or really hate him as heel), they are given wins to maintain that drawing power. they'll put that guy on top of the list as the main attraction, the guy who can draw the most money.
