No more Kerwin White!
WWE DROPS KERWIN WHITE CHARACTER
by Buck Woodward @ 11:15:00 PM on 11/15/2005
WWE.com has quietly removed the Kerwin White bio from the website, and replaced it with a bio for Chavo Guerrero, complete with older pictures of a bearded Chavo with black hair (as opposed to the blonde, clean shaven look he has sported since debuting the Kerwin character).
The Chavo Guerrero bio makes no mention at all of the Kerwin persona, simply noting that he was traded to Raw in the 2005 Draft Lottery and "In his short time on RAW, Chavo has continued to leave his mark, ably carrying the torch for his famous family."
Chavo Guerrero had been repackaged with the "Kerwin White" character in July of this year. The concept was that Chavo was denouncing his Hispanic heritage, and pretending to be a well-off Caucasian, playing up stereotypes and denying his past as a Guerrero. Fans would chant "Chavo" at him during matches, and Kerwin would play off of it by yelling "That's not my name" and "I'm Kerwin". Kerwin has been feuding with Shelton Benjamin over the past months.
Obviously, with the passing of his uncle Eddie Guerrero on Sunday, WWE has decided to discontinue the character and instead allow Chavo to carry on the Guerrero name in wrestling.
