The rivalry between WWE Champion John Cena and Kurt Angle has escalated in recent weeks. After defeating Cena by DQ at Unforgiven, Angle begged Mr. McMahon to grant him another opportunity. General Manager Eric Bischoff granted Kurt's wish, but with a twist: Angle and Cena will not be in a one-on-one match. Instead, they will square off at Taboo Tuesday in a Triple Threat Match, with the fans choosing the final participant.
On the Oct. 17 edition of RAW, Bischoff sanctioned three qualifying matches to see who would be on the ballot to round out the match. After Big Show defeated Edge and Shawn Michaels defeated Carlito, Kane returned to RAW and won an 18-man Battle Royal to claim the final slot.
Last year, the fans voted for Shawn Michaels to face Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship, a match in which an injured HBK came up short. Will HBK garner the fans' support once more, or will one of the 7-footers be Cena and Angle's adversary? You have the power to decide, so be sure to tune in to Taboo Tuesday on Nov. 1 to find out if your choice gets a chance to become WWE Champion.
Chris Masters & Edge vs. Two SmackDown Superstars
November 1, 2005
Edge & Chris Masters' invasion of SmackDown has led to an unprecedented fan-driven match at Taboo Tuesday, as agreed upon by both General Managers Eric Bischoff and Theodore Long.
WWE's fans will decide which two SmackDown Superstars Edge and "The Masterpiece" will face on Nov. 1. It'll be some combination of Rey Mysterio, JBL, Matt Hardy, Christian and Hardcore Holly.
Mysterio, JBL and Hardy all have recent history with Edge and Masters. Christian and Edge used to be tag-team partners. Hardcore Holly doesn't like his show being messed with by invading Superstars, and if the fans give him a chance, he'll pound that message home. Who will challenge Edge and Masters? It's up to you to decide.
Recently on RAW, a Taboo Tuesday qualifying match was interrupted when JBL’s entrance music blared throughout the Arco Arena in Sacramento. Edge became distracted by the unfamiliar music, allowing Big Show to hit his chokeslam and pick up the win. Edge was enraged by the turn of events and vowed to get revenge. That revenge came on Friday Night SmackDown.
When JBL and Rey Mysterio squared off in their rubber match (both Superstars held a victory over the other), the last thing the competitors expected to hear was Edge’s music. But that’s exactly what happened. Edge pounced and nailed his trademark spear on Mysterio. Edge then got up with a maniacal look on his face and retreated through the crowd as JBL chased after him.
RAW’s invasion had a two-pronged attack as “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters attacked Mysterio next, capturing him in the dreaded Master Lock. After the attack, Mysterio demanded that he get a piece of Edge for what he had done. It's up to the fans to decide if Mysterio will get his wish.
World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch would love to prepare for their first pay-per-view title defense. Unfortunately, they'll have to wait until Nov. 1, to find out who their opponents will be.
Whichever Superstars are not voted into the WWE Championship Match by the fans will instead team up and take their best shot at Cade & Murdoch. That means the Texans will be challenged by some combination of Kane, Big Show & Shawn Michaels.
Will the champs meet the largest athlete in the world paired with the Big Red Monster? How about “The Showstopper” and a 7-footer? It’s up to you to pick their poison.
At Taboo Tuesday, former best friends continue their intense rivalry when Intercontinental Champion Ric Flair meets Triple H.
This will be "One Fall to a Finish," a Submission Match or an unforgiving Steel Cage Match. It's up to WWE's fans to decide.
At WWE Homecoming, Triple H severed his three-year plus relationship with Flair, attacking the Nature Boy with a sledgehammer and leaving him a bloody example of the power of the 10-time World Champion. While Flair is a 16-time World Champion and the current Intercontinental Champion, The Game thinks that Flair's time has passed. The Nature Boy, who was in the main event of Taboo Tuesday last year, looks to prove his former protege wrong.
Order Taboo Tuesday on pay-per-view on Nov. 1, to see if "The Dirtiest Player in the Game" can prove Triple H wrong.
