Sources have told TSN.ca that WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will appear this Monday on WWE RAW, to be aired live on TSN at 9pm et/6pm pt from New York's Madison Square Garden.
Ironically, Hogan's last appearance on WWE television was at the very same venue as Mr. America in June 2003.
Hogan will likely respond to Shawn Michaels' invitation to tag up for one last match against Muhammed Hassan and Khosrow Daivari at Backlash.
Born Terry Bollea, Hogan's talent caught the attention of Vincent McMahon Sr., and his WWF, the most prominent wrestling league in the Northeast. McMahon dubbed him Hulk Hogan, for a quasi-resemblance to the comic book hero the Incredible Hulk.
Hogan initially began his career as a heel, and actor Sylvester Stallone was so impressed by him he cast him as 'Thunderlips' in Rocky III.
Hogan and Vince McMahon Jr. used that momentum to launch him as a babyface, perhaps the biggest fan favourite of all time. In 1984, he was awarded the WWE championship after defeating the Sheik and 'Hulkamania' was born. Hogan would hold the title for three years during in a golden era for the business best known as 'Rock n' Wrestling.' His greatest accomplishment arguably came at WrestleMania III in 1987, when he defeated Andre the Giant before an announced crowd of more than 93,000 in Pontiac, Michigan.
Outside the ring, Hogan had tremendous mainstream popularity, with dozens of high-profile endorsements and television and movie appearances.
The 1990's saw Hogan's craft head south to Ted Turner's WCW, where he was successfully re-invented as heel 'Hollywood' Hogan. With former WWE stars Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, they established the infamous NWO (New World Order) and dominated WCW storylines for almost four years.
Hogan resurfaced with WWE in 2002, and went head-to-head in a very memorable battle with The Rock at WrestleMania X-8. The pay-per-view put Hogan back on top, as his presence turned the crowd against the 'babyface' Rock. Hogan was then brought back in his classic red and yellow, and stayed with WWE until leaving in spring of 2003.
