Cruiserweight Champ Chavo Classic Released
WWE Cruiserweight champion Chavo Guerrero Sr. (aka Chavo Classic in recent months) was informed this afternoon that he was being released from World Wrestling Entertainment as a result of his two day no-show spree during this past weekend's Smackdown house shows. Chavo's last on camera appearance for the company was doing commentary and interfering in last week's Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Smackdown bout in Uniondale, New York. He had been tentatively scheduled to team with his son Chavo against WWE Tag Team champions Rico and Charlie Haas at the Great American Bash PPV. Classic finally touched base with WWE officials today. As of last night's house show in Springfield, IL, he hadn't even spoken to his son. Classic had started with the company in January.
There's no word as to what this does to the status of the Cruiserweight championship, but hopefully this doesn't give more ammunition to those who have discussed doing away with the Cruiserweight division in recent weeks.
WWE.com announced that Al Snow, Victoria, Ivory, Lilian Garcia, A-Train, Eugene, Chuck Palumbo, Nidia, Val Venis, Garrison Cade, Stevie Richards, Kane, Rob Conway, Tyson Tomko, Sylvain Grenier, Edge, Molly Holly, Hurricane, Rosey, Batista, Matt Hardy and Lita all took part in the "Donna's Ride" cancer charity event named after Snow's late sister this past weekend in Ohio, The Raw crew raised over $15,000 for charity. All of them deserve huge praise for the time they put into the cause and I hope that everyone realizes what an important deal this cause is, so the next time WWE (or anyone else) organizes something similar, they support it.
WWE announced locally that the 6/26 Smackdown house show in Trenton, New Jersey has been postponed until Saturday 8/7.
