Reuters interviewed Vince McMahon about the forthcoming WWE 24/7 Video on Demand service it will be offering shortly, per their announcement earlier today. The company will begin approaching cable systems on Thursday to push the concept.
In the article, McMahon painted the project as a way for fans to re-live old memories. "A lot of these stars our fans have not seen in a long time, or have never seen before. Now they are going to come to life again."
According to the article, WWE intends to license and merchandise the older characters and brands. The plan is to use the WWE's programming on Spike TV and UPN to publicize the video on demand service. One would assume they will heavily use the Internet as well, since hardcore fans would be the most likely to purchase such programming.
