TED DIBIASE TALKS ABOUT THE ILLS OF TODAY'S WRESTLING PRODUCT

by Thushyan Nadarajah Updated: 10/26/2003 10:18:16 AM

Interview with Ted DiBiase
Date: Thursday, October 23, 2003
Location: Toronto, Canada
Interviewer: Joltin' Joe

Joltin' Joe introduces his guest, The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase.

Joe starts off the interview by asking Ted if Vince McMahon has contacted him recently. Ted replies that Vince has not called him and he doesn't expect a call either. He says he's one of the most out spoken critics on the business and isn't surprised.

Joe goes on to ask Ted if he still watches WWE programming. Ted says that he rarely watches the product because it frustrates and angers him. He says they have great talent, but not enough wrestling is being presented. He says wrestling has turned into a complete soap opera.

Joe asks Ted to list a few of his favorite venues in which he has wrestled. Ted says he enjoyed wrestling at the SkyDome in Toronto, Canada and also Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Joe asks Ted to name a few of his favorite matches and opponents throughout his career. Ted says he's had the pleasure of wrestling legends such as Dory Funk Jr., Terry Funk, Dick Murdoch, Harley Race and the Brisco Brothers. He says the matches he had with these guys were very entertaining because it was the "shear art of wrestling".

Joe asks Ted if he's aware of NWA TNA and to express his thoughts on their product. Ted says he's heard of TNA, but has only seen it once. He enjoys the old school approach of wrestling, but dislikes the storylines that involve sex, gay & lesbian angles, etc.

Joe asks Ted what he's been up to nowadays. Ted says he's started his own wrestling organization, Power Wrestling Alliance, and it's unique because he promotes genuine wrestling.

He also mentioned that he incorporates Christianity into his programming and names a few wrestlers who believe in the religion such as Shawn Michaels, George "The Animal" Steele, Tatanka and others.

The interview cuts off there, but I'll post Part 2 of 2 once it airs.
