The Penitent begins

Upon YOUR pulpit, I’ve delivered countless blessings,
spoken vows at wedding, known for absolving many

generations of patrons have claimed alliance to me

Until one day, a child came to me, pure as untouched snow

then I prayed to hear a sign if I was cursed or spared
I perished the thoughts within, aware I was not to sin
prepared that the petal and I…would never cross again

Then…the years reeled off to ten

The flashing tint of cop cars & bulbs adorned the aisles
rows of reporters sent in stock piles..went on for miles
Again, I saw this child, now a rugged man of age
tainted by the hatred from the fate that he had faced
He made up a false tale containing him, I and rape
it amazed me how this once pure snow had become a flake
A once honest mistake, had me banned from the cloth
to get a taste of the pain felt by Jesus’ hands on the cross
