Hurrican Katrina
Waves pushed across the Atlantic are constantly causing a panic
Giving names, calling em Frances and Andrew as they fall to the canvass
Winds increase within this beast without a pause to recant it
Rain fall is gigantic;
drops tear through the walls as they've landed
People are all in a frantic from knowing this season's approaching
A regular occurence, but these warm currents now seem like an omen
Florida's beaches were holding Katrina at cat peril flag 1
That means the smallest damages would hurt land before the terror was done
But as this hurricane was turned away, it hits the Mexican gulf
Rose to a cat flag 3 across ports and brought death to endulge
The warm waters gave it more power to surge to it's highest
As the winds picked up to 175 mph to flourish it's iris
Eye of The Hurricane
The eye of the storm, circling in darkness sucking life with it's force
The frightening form;
a small abyss lifting streets it's spiralling towards
Peeling the sides off a porch before it touches, spitting lighting and more
Causing floods through coastal lands, refusing to die on it's course
She hit Louisiana at a Cat Flag 5 without the warning expected
Only 36 hours given to evacuate before flood horrors were present
Catastrophy models were made 5 days prior with targets in range
New Orleans was proposed to be in that path of margins relayed
Levees have been in need of repair since the 40's and 50's
With buildings needing renovations since slavery tortured those cities
Port of Mississippi are caught in a direct line of fire
As Katrina looks down on them without the blinking eye they desire
Thousands of lives are expired as well as billions lost in the damage
But my concern is for the survivors who have felt lost and abandoned
Citizens weren't given enough time to prepare properly
Even hospitals and senior housing were drowned to debris
A city barried in swampy streams with bodies floating above it
As plumbing erupts shit with the waste of rotting flesh flowing through public
Five days of no clean water brought anarchy to mind
To find ways of getting supplies when they could hardly survive
Scared and depressed without resources for neglecting their death
Primal responses are fused to fight for all the food they can get
But instead of rescue teams, the first reaction that's called by this all
Is matial law to govern order by armies drawn for assaults
No rescue missions in mind are built within this prison design
Especially since trucks of troops roll by the dieing civilian lives
No way to escape, airports are flooded at the base of the lakes
With the majority of boats torn into ghost ships that lay on the bay
But through it people are brought closer together, going through sectors
On motor boats, picking up folks for some patroling that's better
Contaminated waters are lethal while spreading diseases and plagues
With people laying on roofs watching water climb several feet every day
Humanity kicks it in 5th gear to save reamaining victums
Tragedy of apocalyptic scenes constantly staining their visions
How do you keep your composure when all you've known in your life
Unfolds in the light and in days is stripped from you with nowhere to hide
No home and no lights, with most of your family probably going to die
Would that be when you look in yourself and find a moment to rise
Or loose faith in every belief system that has grown in your mind
Making every thought loose any purpose as tears unload their supply
Go on and cry, we all know this deserves the nation to mourn
And everyone alive, give thanks for not being in the face of this storm

I realize that this event has been covered extensively by the news and many people are continually writing on it so you may not wanna read to be reminded of the horror, but please do. I just needed to express my view of the hurricane.
Hurricane Katrina is proposed to have taken more lives and caused more damages than any other hurricane in US history. At an estimated 150 billion in damages and over 5000 unaccounted for people, this has effected the US more than almost any war we've been through. This time the only enemy was the government's lack of preparation to safeguard it's people from an event that several geologist, geographers and other scientist expected to occur sooner or later. With Hurricane Rita approaching Texas at around a cat flag 4 or 5 for when it hits saturday, this is a horrible hurricane season for the US. Thanks for reading
