Intro

what's up...this is a great mag...so read on.

Soapbox
Soapbox'll be short, but we've got the league starting up again, and a great bunch of characters in the tournament's Sweet 18...should be a very interesting a dope week...for Omen, this might be his last week for a bit, but we can all hope the army keeps him away from his family for a few more weeks...Tek's been doing a lot of talking recently...who would have though?...i'm looking forward to this week, though....so good luck and keep voting.

First To Go
Three Out Of Four #1 Seeds Eliminated
By ASK

The 1st to go are always the 1st expected to win

Personally, I think im a dead lucky man. I've faced Richard Corey twice in tourneys, and he's no showed twice, meaning ive had advanced by luck twice. But looking at it for another view, no-shows are a damn shame really. This week we had both Richard Corey and Dahloner no show. They were both expected to win their matches, as well as were both number 1 seeds in their bracket. So that's two of the numero Uno's gone. It would have been great to see them show and bring that godly greatness they have (while corey threashed my shitty lil verse I typed up). But this has really shaken up the brackets and left it a lot more open to all. I mean shit, ive fallen off so bad and im the top 4 of my bracket. I can seriously make no judge on who is going to win this tourney; idve had put all my money on Corey till this Sunday. I cant wait to see who makes final 4 now........
......seeing that we also lost a 3rd number one seed. My fellow breathern in modship and a great writer, Mac flow aka Awedidishin. I mean dam this guy is a great writer and has got 4 title behind him and has won so many tourneys its.....ohhhhhh wait, no he hasn't, tourneys really aren't his thing. Harsh that. I don't think its his skill, I think its just he gets damn bad luck or just generally has got in his mind he shall lose. So now its wiiiiiiidddeeee open. 3 of the top ones gone, as well as the fall of another tourney champion, Navara. So who do I see winning, personally id say MC4SIGHT but we've already had enough shake ups suggesting there's gona be a hell of a lot more.

Bring It Back
After A Two Week Hiatus, The League Is Back
By Omen

Welcome Ladies and Gents to the RSTL. Well seems that th e regular league is back into full swing while the Final 18 battle it out in the tourney. As can be expected the league is starting off small with only 30 participants involved this week. However I am sure that as the tourney goes on through out the weeks and people slowly get eliminated, more will sign into the league. None-the-less there is some very good competition signed in this week. TekNeeK making a run for his second title possibly after winning two very tough matches to USER and Infinite Truth. Showing that he still has what it takes to compete with the leagues best. TRAP is back in going against the cocky yet vastly improved Atreyu. Both looking for a shot at the title.. while TRAP has been there before this could be Atreyu's first time. However he has to do something thats not so easy, beat TRAP. But with greats like Edward Lake, Athiest, L Dogg, Dicenyaeye, LiquidLife, and Khoi signed in.. the league seems to still be holding onto some incredible talent. Coming in though are Malosovich, Retulen Reactus, Kaybi, Unavailable, and Lokternal. All of whom pose a serious threat in the league...and at any moment could pull a huge upset over anyone. But newcomers such as Square, John Hensley, 6Ft Deep ( no new comer when it comes to writing very creative verses), and Troublesome, could all cause problems for the higher ranks later. I say watch out for some of these kids because as time goes, there either gonna completely suprise you or go the back route and run. Personally I didn't expect the league to have this many people signed in, not with the tourney still going on and people focusing more on that. Some chose to double up and compete in both, making it so they have to write 2 verses instead of one. Now thats just to much work me, so forget that. Personally I think the league has some incredible matches this week, so I say watch and read them all. And don't forget to vote, because this is the RSTL where great things happen on a daily basis. So G'Luck to all those in the league and to those in the tourney.

Tha Talent takes it up the butt!
Talent's Top Ten
Shortened Version

10. Retulen Reactus...
...the best of the losing verses, this was one of the best i've seen from Ret...well done.

9. BusterHymen...
...a little on the plain side, Buster described the life of a work addict well, and it was very mechanically solid.

8. Tekneek...
...though his standard English-language writing mechanics were bad, Tek still got his point across well.

7. Khoi...
...a good story, very well written...i like your writing style...seriously though, UP YOUR RHYME SCHEME.

6. dicenyaeye...
...dic's verse didn't make me laugh, but it was a solid narrative that did bring a smile to my face.

5. Ashen Horse...
...Ashen laid out a well told and intricate semi-murder mystery with a commentary behind it.

4. Edward Lake...
...Vadik is a monster when it comes to topicals, and this week was no exception, as he beat L.

3. TRAP...
...big Trap's verse last week was a lot like a trap open mic, and it ran deep with emotions.

2. Infinite Truth...
...Truth is Truth, and he really developed the storyline that he will be continuing throughout this tournament.

1. MC4Sight...
...4Sight is hot, and this week he got the nudge on Truth with one of the best he's written.

Sweet Eighteen
Full Scale Analysis of the Remaining Competitors

EAST

9. ASK
Getting a no show from Richard Corey is a sign that the Gods are with you. ASK is the man that is so lucky. He's managed to get by two rounds, despite being rusty. Though he's not as good as he can be, ASK aka Harlequin has a history of being one of the most detail-driven and image-laden writers in the league, and for the most part he does it well. Probability of taking the bracket: 1/20

4. Anaphora
Anaphora is a legend in the wings. He's got a great style and is very much so a contender. Though he is still waiting for a title, Ana would, I'm sure, be delighted to take hold of a tournament championship just as much as a league championship. He's a great writer with a semi-prosaic style that allows for smooth and effective storytelling. And his relatively new branching out might be the final piece of the puzzle. Probability of taking the bracket: 5/20

6. Formal Logic
Formal Logic is another guy in this bracket that, on paper, has not accomplished very much in this league, yet has earned respect for his writing skill. His style is somewhat similar to my own. However, he keeps his rhyme structure very tight and his flow is silk once the reader catches it. Formal is a guy that I would have expected bigger things from, but he hasn't been as creative in the past as he should be. Still, he's got the skill. Probability of taking the bracket: 3/20

2. MC4Sight
With the no shows of Richard Corey and Poetiquette, an obvious favorite steps up in the East. 4Sight has been a hot hand, writing some of the most intricate and elaborate pieces in the RSTL's history. He's got such a knack for word choice, and all his verses are so poetic. The knock on him is his lack of a consistant flow and his stretched and difficult to find word choice, but he still is seen as a favorite here. Probability of taking the bracket: 11/20

WEST

1. Infinite Truth
This is probably the best bracket, and it worked out fairly nicely. Truth is my pick to win the tournament. He's just got so much to offer in terms of diction, word choice, poetic devices, and overall writing skill. People question whether his rhyme scheme works, but I think that if flowed liberally, it has a nice effect. Though the "poetry haters" may not like it, Truth is the favorite here. Probability of taking the bracket: 8/20

12. Kaybi
No one thought Kaybi would be in this spot right now. Let's be honest, suprise of the tournament. But he managed to outlast NumSkull into a tie, kept his spot because he posted his links properly, and then he managed to once again tie while the underdog, as he faced off against Cereal Killer. I don't see him managing to get by Infinite Truth, but I won't take away his accomplishment. He's the underdog of the tournament, though. Probability of taking the bracket: 1/20

4. Cereal Killer
Cereal Killer is an enigma to the RSTL. We have no idea what to expect from this guy. The two things I have learned to expect in a Cereal Killer verse is an abstract feel and good flow. His content, however, goes from great to bad, and his writing can be very well done and clear, to overly cloudy and sloppy. However, when he's on, he's a contender. What hurts him the most, in my opinion, is that his two tournament verses so far haven't been great. Probability of taking the bracket: 2/20

6. headless verseman
Headless is a cocky guy, make no question about it. He joined this tournament because he thinks he can win it, and I really don't think he would have joined it had he not had that faith. He's also a very skilled writer. The question becomes, will headless keep wanting this tournament, or will he slack off like he has throughout his RSTL past. Not only that, but I believe that if he wants to be Trap or Infinite Truth, he will also have to step up his writing. Still, I wouldn't put it past him. Probability of taking the bracket: 4/20

2. TRAP.
Trap is a true internet vet, probably more so than anyone else on RM. He's a great writer, and he knows how and when to turn it up. That is what makes him such an intruiging tournament presense. I think he will put his all into this. However, he does have two verses to write, both being of importance. In my mind, Trap will bring the flames we expect, the question is, will he bring beyond that? Probability of taking the bracket: 5/20

Tha Talent takes it up the butt!
Sweet Eighteen (continued)

NORTH

9. Nique
So Mac gets upset again, and now the North is the most wide open bracket around. And we can thank Nique for that. She still has a lot of rough edges as a writer, but Nique is quietly developing into someone that the RSTL should be watching out for. Though that last win might end the "quietly" part of it all. She's got a good sense of flow, but her story dictation could be improved. However, don't take anything away from her, she will be a match for Ssen. Probability of taking the bracket: 2/20

5. Ssenlli
A lot of newcomers might not recognize Ssenlli, but he was a member of the best days in the RSTL. He's a former champ, and a guy who has seen a lot in this league. It always amuses me that he can pop up every once in a while and write the same quality verses every time. He still writes most of his verses around that ending twist, which some look down upon in the modern league, but Ssen is still a viable force, and he's still illnesS spelled backwards. Probability of taking the bracket: 3/20

3. Tekneek
The founder of the RSTL has had a long history in this league. Yet 40+ wins later, he's still only got one championship. So you can imagine that this guy, the RSTL hypeman, wants to win this tournament more than anyone. He rants and raves constantly, and holds no qualms on being cocky. Recently, he's been in a good streak, and now he runs in a bracket that is up for grabs. I do think he needs to work on his grammer, his last verse was a step back. However, he's the favorite to some, and now will push to win it. Probability of taking the bracket: 6/20

7. Edward Lake
Well, it's official. Ed Lake is Vadik, and Vadik is an RSTL legend. He might even be my favorite RSTLian never to win a title. His writing is so mechanically sound, and his diction and phrasing are very polished, and allow for a lot of growth in his stories. He's definitely hot, as well. His only loss under the name Edward Lake is to Richard Corey, and he's had verse of the week honors already, not to mention beating L-Dogg last week. He's a slight favorite. Probability of taking the bracket: 8/20

SOUTH

9. Ashen Horse
Ashen Horse aka Pestilence is one of the leagues best writers right now. He's got a serious shot of taking anyone down. His defeat of Numskull last week was a suprise to some, but not much of one to me. The man can really tell a story and he brings in an abstract writing style that is becoming more and more popular every week. Very skilled writer, but he could work on consistancy with his mechanics. Still, he has a real shot of winning this. Probability of taking the bracket: 3/20

4. Khoi
Tekneek is not known for being a good predictor in the RSTL, but none-the-less, his word has to mean something. And his word was that Khoi would win this bracket. Khoi's a good writer, although I personally don't believe he's every found his true capacity in the realm of storytelling. Still, he can tell a story well enough, even if narration isn't his strength, and he will try his best to take this. He's skilled enough that he might do it. Probability of taking the bracket: 4/20

11. BusterHymen
BusterHymen has been flying under the radar. He's a very good writer and he has the potential to win this. A 10% chance is not a long shot. Mechanically, he's probably the most polished in this bracket. The only major flaw I see in him is that he needs to develop his stories more. That will come with experience. Right now, he may not be good enough to win the bracket, but in a few months, with seasoning, he'll be a great writer. Probability of taking the bracket: 2/20

7. dicenyaeye
Last week, dicenyaeye tied me with a very entertaining and well done comical verse. Though he still has some rough edges, I think the comedy approach, if done as well as dic used it, can be a great tool. Dic's a relative newcomer to this league, but his writing shows maturity. He's got a good grasp of rhyme scheme and his flow is smooth. He's certainly a contender. Probability of taking the bracket: 5/20

2. Tha Talent
If you looked at the probabilities yet, you probably think I am being cocky by putting myself as the favorite to win this bracket. However, with the eliminations of DahLohner and Username, I have become the favorite. My win and championship totals should speak for themselves. However, I know I have to stay focused and it would probably be advantageous for me to push a more narrative approach for now. Probability of taking the bracket: 6/20

Outro
i'm just going to say peace, and leave it at that.
