OPENING STATEMENT
.

Hello ladies and gents. Welcome to another week in the RSTL. This week was a good one. A lot of strong newcomers arrived and are beginning to prove themselves in the lower ranks. As people like Magic Johnson and Wise Punchlines move to 3-0 along with several others, it seems the lower ranks are becoming more hungry to gain the recognition and the competition to quench their thirst. As they move up they realize that the competition is only harder and that they must try even more to win a match. While the older heads of the RSTL fight amongst each other in order to obtain the title they too realize how steep the competition is. Although some do not realize the ever growing threat that the lower ranks members are bringing.
So without further ado here it is the:

ATROCIOUS VOTING
(Written By: Spy2)

.
OK, people have been talking about it alot lately, and it is something that needs to be addressed. Voting is atrocious. In fact, looking around the other forums, most replies to open mics, poetry etc is just lame, and has no point. If someone's flow is awkward in places, tell them where it's awkward. If something is worded weirdly, say where it is, quote the verse. And for gods sake, read every verse twice! A good standard for voting should be on three main things: Flow (which can include Multi's as far as I'm concerned), Story (How's the story told, is it clear, intriguing... this should be a big part of the vote I think, it's what keeps this league apart from other shit, quality stories), Creativity (insert ending twist, or, twist on topics, writing your verse differently, like starting at the end, extended metaphors, clever lines, wordplay etc)... a lot of people use vocab, which is kinda iffy to me. I mean, sure, Dr. Seuss verses aren't good, where there's under 100 different words or whatever, but using obscure diction doesn't make anything better, in fact, it can take away from a verse, because you have to stop, and double check in your mind that you know what the word even means, and doing this too many times breaks up a verse. And also think of this when you're voting: Not everyone is here just to be the 'champion' of an internet open mic league, but to actually improve their writing. That's what I'd guess at least half of the people are here for, you don't improve with vague allusions to a verse, but with serious, constructive criticism... I understand you don't have time to go through something as thoroughly as you could with open mics and shit, but it's gotten pretty bad. And if you're having problems understanding something, read it again. I've seen a lot of people complain about not understanding something that a second read would probably reveal... a good twist (as everyone here seems to be addicted to) should demand another read, otherwise it'd be too obvious, and not really much of a twist. So it all boils down to common courtesy, treat others as you'd like to be treated, write decent comments in your vote that will help the person write a better verse in the next week, which should be the reason everyone's here, to progress as writers.

TOP 10 VERSES
(Written By: Tha Talent Production)

.
10. Desenuts
...though it was by no means his best effort, Desenuts ended up with a nice, creative, well written story this week...his flow, as always, was solid, even though his rhyme scheme was a little simpler than normal...he took an interesting twist on his topic, a deeper version of the insanity twist...well told story that entertained well in his shut out(i think?) of Neo Soul...very nice verse.

9. Awedishin
...he pretty much got shut out by NYSE in the title match, but so did i two weeks ago...Mac went with a style of verse that generally disguists me because of its lack of originality: the story diss...but mac pulled this one off, and until he got to the end of his verse, i really liked his verse...infact i might have voted for him if he had come up with a better ending than that...it was a very nice verse, and even though the twist lacked originality, it was as well done as any story diss i've ever read.

8. Wise-Punchlines
...he barely edged out Cogzwell, but Wise-Punchlines showed me something this week...he has a few rough edges: his flow needs to be a little smoother and sometimes he oversimplifies things, but wise is a good writer with a creative mind...he had a lot of emotion this week in his piece on the topic everybody chose: the ex-girlfriend...and, unlike people such as War, he actually told a story with the topic, and it was a good one...Wise wrote, though not an incredible verse, a very likeable verse that kept me entertained.

7. Worst Enemy
...i was the only one to vote for Worst in his match against IV, and i'm not sure why...he had a solid flow, but his strength was his writers voice and a great concept for the topic...the only negative about this verse was the length, and length isn't that big of a deal...he held it down nicely, really strong wording as mentioned...i'm still pondering how IV wrote a story diss about Michael Jackson and somehow managed to beat this verse...anyway, Worst deserved this spot.

6. MC4Sight
...normally, there are a lot more no show verses that deserve top 10 spots than just one, but this week 4Sight is the only member of the top 10 who didn't have an opponent...4Sight really went abstract on the conversation with God topic, in what was a revert back to the style he used against Peril...it was a very nice, intelligent read, thought the ending could use just a little more creativity...still worth a top ten mention.

5. Vadik
...i voted for Tekneek in his battle with Vadik this week, but that doesn't mean Vadik isn't still my favorite writer in the RSTL(as i said last week)...Vad had the most well written verse of the week, and put it down with a nice topic and a Richard Corey "sample" as the hook...i really enjoyed reading Vad's verse, which would have been the verse of the week if he had expanded more on the ending...still, a nice approach.

4. aesthetics
...i don't recall, in my time doing these top 10 verses, ever putting anyone in the under 40 as high as i am putting aesthetics this week...aes really suprised me though, taking a tremendous concept for the "conversation with God" topic and letting us enjoy...tek said he felt Aes went too far off topic, but i feel that he just made the topic his own...beautifully written, one of the only verses to compete with Vadik for most well written verse of the week...his battle with Headless Verseman this week may end up the battle of the week(though Lithix vs. Richard Corey or IV vs. Jowelz will likely take that crown).

3. Author NYSE
...i don't like greek mythology...but i love Author NYSE's style of writing...and that carries him to the #3 slot this week, which is lower than he normally gets, but still is top 3...anyway, i feel that NYSE truly showed his writing skill by makign me get enjoyment out of a concept that i hated...he really let loose on the poetic writers voice this week, and though it was by no means my favorite verse from him, he still ended up nearly shutting out Mac...NYSE is vying to tie the record for most consecutive weeks in title defense, a record held by InsaneVillain and Peril Eyes of 5 straight...all he needs to do is beat Tek to put him in that very select group...NYSE has truly established himself as an RSTL great.

2. Tekneek
...it seems i have underestimated tekneek...though, in my opinion, he did not deserve to win last week, this week he won and emphatically gained respect from many doubters, including myself...he showed emotion, imagery, flow, and writers voice, all capped off by a great conclusion...overall, a great verse, the best i've read from him, easily...its his job to end Author's streak before he ties the record now...will he be able to come as nice as he did last week?

1. God Extentions..
...tek called it the "battle of the year", but i think trap clearly outshined me, even though i did end up the victor...trap had a tremendous verse...such an incredible twist, using one of the only greek myths that actually intrigues me...he really showed tons of emotion, and spoke from personal experience for most of the verse, then brought forth an unexpected twist that actually watched my mouth drop...tremendous verse, well worth the verse of the week.

JOWELZ VS IV:
The Rivalry Before the Reverie?

(Written By: TekNeeK)

Throughout 2003, there have been many great battles and matchups against the
very best of the RSTL pairs. But none have been more ferocious than the
continuous hatemongering from two well-known cats, IV and JOWELZ.

Both are without a doubt one of the best ever in the site to grace
storytelling. JOWELZ has made himself public with his ridiculous
personality and his ever-so-famous viciousness and comedic clichés, but ever
since his arrival to the RSTL, we’ve seen a more mellower and a more humble
GOAT. JOWELZ has been very low-key and a lot more mature in his makeup to
success in this league. Known for his excellent narrations and his ever-so
descriptive stories that keep a reader glued to every detail and storyline…
the GOAT masters his keen knowledge and writing so vividly and so well that
being at the top was inevitable at some point in time. And in 2003, JOWELZ
has done that. But with every great winner comes a hater. And his name is
IV.

IV is no stranger or no newbie to the site. He’s been here since the early
days of RMC when battlers and crews were rampant. IV has been a more
low-key person in the early times of RMC… but has grown and seen the
dissipation of the regulars and the heavyweights.. and with that he was on
the surge to coming out of his shell to break into the wide open with his
crew DM and to take his spot into the limelight during the 2002 year. IV
has done much to service the site with his moderating and his journey into
both battling and storytelling… but a more forte’ in his ability to
storytell. With experiences in the RWF and also in the RSTL, IV has
flourished to massive success with his latest exploit being the first person
to tie PERIL-EYES’ consecutive weeks at #1 with 5 successful defenses. His
consistency in bringing deep writing skills and emotional lengths to wooing
the readers, IV has defined to complete 2003 not with just his ability to
storytell to the top in the RSTL but also to moderate both RSTL and the RBL
at successful timelengths. Not much disagreements can be made when
declaring that 2003 is the year for IV. In the years where battlers and RBL
folks were the sure presence of Rapmusic… IV has done more than what can be
contributed to be said by some.. the MVP of 2003 in Rapmusic.com. But alike
all great feats, there always was the one that didn’t agree… and that was
JOWELZ.

The events that transpired after these both exchanged words grew into an all
out bloody, hateful words of backlashing from both ends. The hatred and the
constant outbursts of vicious words continued to fuel 2003 when at a time….
Three matches came to be between the two. One won by JOWELZ and two won by
IV. However, the outcomes came from this… both could not and would not
stop. And this rivalry was more than just that… but also a pink-slip match
which led IV to falter and find himself at a loss with words as he found
himself defeated by the GOAT. --- Many after viewing this, felt that despite
the success and the achievements that IV has picked up… that maybe his great
name wasn’t the greatest as it seems. And it seemed that as time went on…
the rivalry began to grow a bit lower in volume as both JOWELZ and IV led to
separate paths in different directions to new successes.

During the tournament of 64 to declare the winner of the RSTL tourney, both
JOWELZ and IV found themselves early in defeat and had grown more quiet in
their ferocity with one another… almost to the point where it was forgotten…
but when TEKNEEK had declared the Thanksgiving announcement of the 1st ever
Tag Team Tourney for the RSTL, there were rampant rumors of a JOWELZ – IV
pairup. --- This shocking revelation sparked a hoard of frenzy and confusion
amongst individuals in the RSTL in seeking what could formulate with this
unity, however… some didn’t think much of it. --- I got into an interview
with some of the RSTL peoples and here’s what they had to say with this
question I gave them:

TEK TO USERNAME: With the coming of the 2004 tag team tournament -- the
rumor of a JOWELZ-IV teamup is astonishing enough because of the ferocious
hatred and rivalry the two had together earlier this year. What do you feel
the other heavyweights in the RSTL are thinking by this -- are they
intimidated? Surprised (due to hate they use to have) or unphased?? ---
Please speak your mind.

USERNAME: well, mainly that would depend on the person...id be quick to say
the REAL heavyweights are unphased by the duo, but astounded by the
pairing...seeing as how the beef they had was so escalated, and spilled into
the RSTL a couple of times...IV's one of those guys who thrives on suprising
the rest of the contenders...so in his mind he probably saw this
coming...jowelz on the other hand...is...well...GOAT....i mean what else can
you say?...

TEK: So despite the challenge that the heavyweights would like have with
these two... do you feel that even them compress a bit of intimidation or
fear within them?

USERNAME: i mean, theres always the intimidation factor...just lookit the
combined records of the two....but theres always a group in a tourney that
you know will be causing problems...its all about focus, tho...despite the
pair of IV n jowelz, theres many other heads who CAN and possibly WILL
overthrow them...because youve gotta remember...altho their records are
impressive, along with their topicals...they HAVE been defeated before.
What SHOULD be interesting is their upcoming match...id look to that for a
preview of how well their styles mesh

TEK TO ANGELIC: With the coming of the 2004 tag team tournament -- the rumor
of a JOWELZ-IV teamup is astonishing enough because of the ferocious hatred
and rivalry the two had together earlier this year. What do you feel the
other heavyweights in the RSTL are thinking by this -- are they intimidated?
Surprised (due to hate they use to have) or unphased?? --- Please speak your
mind.

ANGELIC: Personally, I think suprise is the most prominent feeling among
them. I mean, who would of expected them, of all people to team up? But then
again, things like this happen all the time. One day people are beefin'
hard, the next they're don' somethin' like this. So yep. It was only a
matter of time before two of the RSTL greats got together. I think it was
inevitable and I'm sure a few other folks feel that way. As for bein'
intimidated.. I'm sure plenty of 'em are. We saw what the two were capable
of doin' on they own.. now just imagine them as a team.

TEK: But do you feel that a team like IV and JOWELZ can beat out the rest or
do you think RSTL is just stacked with talent?

ANGELIC: They've got the victory in the bag.

CONT....

TEK TO HEADLESS VERSEMAN: With the coming of the 2004 tag team tournament --
the rumor of a JOWELZ-IV teamup is astonishing enough because of the
ferocious hatred and rivalry the two had together earlier this year. What
do you feel the other heavyweights in the RSTL are thinking by this -- are
they intimidated? Surprised (due to hate they use to have) or unphased?? ---
Please speak your mind.

HEADLESS VERSEMAN: Im unphased....i think both jowelz and insane write
terribly boring verses...no creativity, just basic, shit....why are they up
among the elite...because they do it weekly, if u show up ull be top
5....its as simple as that

TEK TO INFINITE TRUTH: With the coming of the 2004 tag team tournament --
the rumor of a JOWELZ-IV teamup is astonishing enough because of the
ferocious hatred and rivalry the two had together earlier this year. What
do you feel the other heavyweights in the RSTL are thinking by this -- are
they intimidated? Surprised (due to hate they use to have) or unphased?? ---
Please speak your mind.

INFINITE TRUTH: well, ill say one thing.. im teamed up w/ vern for the
tourney.. i aint phased one bit.. the thing is, iv isnt a very intimidating
opponent.. he was only intimidating when he had 45 cocksmugglers riding the
dick voting for his ever last verse.. he dont got that anymore.. so its
like, yea, hes good, but not the best.. he was one of the best in a shitty
era of the rstl.. congratulations.. way to be.. jowelz on the hand.. is a
real threat.. an amazing writer, a what, 5x champ?? christ.. the thing about
him is.. he could pull of a 30 line verse and still beat 60 that vern and i
write.. hes that good.

TEK: Do you feel that even with a half-mediocre verse from IV and a
full-fledged verse from JOWELZ is possible to beat you two out?

INFINITE TRUTH: Absolutely not, cuz ivs medicore verse would hold the total
verse back…

So from word of mouth, there seems to be mixed reviews and feelings on this
pairup. Some are expressing no intimidation… some feel this maybe a good
team, some are just wanting to see how they fare together… but through this
unity that they’ve managed to formulate… they have yet to do but one more
battle with each other. And considering that they are hungry this week in
getting back on top… showing each other just how good they are towards one
another might prove something that maybe they are meant to be a team.
Whether the chemistry and writing style is different… from a brutal,
foul-mouthed rivalry, to a possible unification… this rivalry… possibly a
reverie may leave some opponents a bit in hesitance.

INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK
(InsaneVillian)

.
Welcome ladies and gents to this weeks interview. Tonight we will be sitting down with the man himself InsaneVillian. Stop touching my leg.
But i just wanna get a grip so i can piss on it...wuz up Omen... whas crackin
Its all good. So how's it feel to be back in the league under your real name?
It feels nice.. The alias shit wasnt crackin'... i was tired of facing people i know i could beat.. Now i get a shot at some real competition again
So you feel that the competition in the lower rankings is sub-par?
Well, Not really, I like a couple of the kids down there... Stayt of Mynd looked kinda nasty, and cauliflower was waay better than i suspected... But i like to be in the limelight nah mean?
So being in the Upper 20 is a way for you to shine more as a writer?
Yes, becuase now i face the proven emcees... the ones who grit it out week after week.... and i get a shot to flush some TP down the toilet... But I also wantedto face JOWELZ and NYSE... NYSE is looking good again, and i want to see if he learned from last time
Do you feel any of these writers might be able to give you a serious challenge?
Which Writers... Jowelz and NYSE?... Well JOWELZ is dangerous... he wouldnt be my tag team partner if i didnt think he had a shot of whoopin my ass... NYSE, i think i have his number... But i dunno... Kid is like a chameleon as of late... NYSE will definately give me a run for my money...
Chameleon? What is meant by that?
He changes... he has a way of changing emotions and his literature is nasty... i dont know exactly what to expect from that man when he drops
Do you feel several other writers in the league are the same way?
some... like the talent... and trap... but there are a few who lack in creativity... if u see the topic they are bout to do, its almost as if i can predict what its gonna look like.... Im training my Crew to use the element of suprise
Nice. So it seems like you have a grasp on a way to defeat each opponent you face?
I do in a way... I study my opponents... If some hit me with flow... i come with a different style on them... Trap, RC and Talent though are the hardest to read... But I have a plan for Talent... He gets Uninspired too easily... Ill just tell him I Suck, and i cant amount to him when we face off, then it will be all gravy... another win... Oops... Did i say that out loud... GASP
Yeah it was outloud. There's the hand again. So what are the IV plans for the RSTL?
My plans are to rule once again... Crush Everyone... Like Always... And Help out my new crew...
Good plans. So how do you think the league looks at its present time competition wise?
Hmmm... It looks pretty good... I wouldnt be back if this was gonna be a cake walk... I like how the league is transforming... The top 30 is soon going to be looking nasty... When we first started it was always about the top 10... And Even TeKneeK is looking dangerous these days... When i get this third title... people will remember how tough it was to get... The new Kid i Have really got my eye on is MC4SIGHT... He might be the future of this league... if he keeps improving as quick as he is...
Word 4SiGHT is good. Is there anyone in the league that you do not like?
LOL... L dogg isnt in the league... but im really gettin tired of his shit talkin, and if he wants me so bad he should sign into the RSTL and prove how bad he is... Other than that I Love everyone else personality wise... No one has ticked me off.... YET. For Emcee wise, i see alot of heads that need improvement, and even if i dont like their style now, they might come into their own... im pretty sure i wasnt liked at first either... but i transformed into a super being who crushed everyone
Lol word. So in IV's opinion, giving help to these newer heads, what do you feel it takes to be the best?
First thing.. is Faith in yourself... If u dont believe in yourself that u could beat anybody.. then your already fucked... second u need some multis to keep it interesting along with an entertaining plot.... Now i cant give it all away man... I have my Special Secrets u Know... :-(

RSTL TOP 10
(Written By: Wisdom)

New Section Is To Be Adopted This Week.
.
NEW RULE IMPLEMENTED
(Written By: TekNeeK)

.
1 Vote Loss per Unexplained Vote

Due to the growing problems of folks getting away with sloppy critiques and
hasty judgments on verses, any participant who fails to thoroughly explain
their vote for that person will have their own match negated a vote. The
MODS, TeKneeK, Nebz, and Omen will be the regulators and the judges for
what’s legit and not legit as a vote. They will declare it an illegal vote
and will proceed to that voter’s own thread and reply with a minus vote on
their match. We feel that this can take voting a step further into strict
regulations for betterness in the process of declaring the rightful winner.

THA TALENT & GOD EXTENSIONS
(Written By: TekNeeK)

This past week, the RSTL gave those of us who noticed a treat to relish. It
wasn’t nobody winning the title some odd weeks in a row. It wasn’t a person
winning the tourney. No, it was two great writers who brought both the most
equal and most right and exact verses in comparison that can ever be decided
on a vote. TALENT and GOD EXTENSIONS are great writers… and have brought
something real nice…. A beautiful rhyme. Probably one of the best rhymes
ever to be read in every single element in writing a verse. The link:
5. Talent 30-13 vs. 6. God Extensions 7-0 did not bring the very
best participation of voters to determine the winner in close end-result,
but from my eyes… in the way it was presented, it is in my book the sole
battle of the year for 2003. It wasn’t cus of the great voter turnout or
anything… but two writers just utilizing different topics and somehow
through coincidence conjuring 2 rhymes that seem so alike so equal and so
closely related… that in my opinion mystified me to total shock. Reading it
was sweet to my eyes and lips. My mind was exasperated… and yes, it is very
much deservingly to be said to be probably the two greatest rhymes I have
ever read in my time here in Rapmusic.com… honest. I’ve read many emotional
and solid rhymes… but nothing has made me go gaga over not 1… but 2! 2 of
them! --- You don’t just see two similar rhymes being so good… so strong and
attentive to reading.. to just captivate you and just read it over and over
again. --- TALENT and GE never bring this sort of writing style in their
repertoire. This is something that was different and they managed to bring
it in this way…. This deserves a story worthy enough to say that they both
share not just the best rhymes of the week in my eyes… but the best rhymes
ever to be read by me… TEKNEEK in rapmusic.com. --- It will forever be
remembered and brought up in the future.
.
.
CLOSING STATEMENT
.
Ok people that raps it up. You know its looking to be a good year in the RSTL. With several amazing matches that have happened throughout the year who is to say that this is but a mere stepping stone to what the new year will produce. With a slum of new heads joining and old heads improving it could only make for a stellar year. But only time will tell and right now we are just trying to get through this week. This several old rival matches happening: Jowelz vs. IV and Nyse vs. Tek it can only make for one interesting week.
So….
Thanks for reading this week’s Mag and I hope its to your liking and thanks to all of those who helped contribute to this weeks production.

Nice stuff guys but LOL@ "IV and Jowelz unstoppable as a team"; Sure they're good, theres no denying that, but plenty of people are just as good if not better at times. So u cant just say because two people are good they're gonna have a good day and win. Hard to predict anything with this much talent in the league.

Good mag.

æsthetics takes it up the butt!

4. aesthetics
...i don't recall, in my time doing these top 10 verses, ever putting anyone in the under 40 as high as i am putting aesthetics this week...aes really suprised me though, taking a tremendous concept for the "conversation with God" topic and letting us enjoy...tek said he felt Aes went too far off topic, but i feel that he just made the topic his own...beautifully written, one of the only verses to compete with Vadik for most well written verse of the week...his battle with Headless Verseman this week may end up the battle of the week(though Lithix vs. Richard Corey or IV vs. Jowelz will likely take that crown).
#4... nice! I'm glad you liked it, hopefully I'll get more than an hour to write it this week. Nice work to everyone who contributed.
