The 2007 RSTL Award Nomination & Voting Thread

Based on the 16 weeks of competition, I encourage you to make wise decisions in your nominations and voting. The currently compiled list is not a definite one and I urge you to nominate and vote for those whom you feel most deserved the respective award whether they are listed below or not. This has been a fun and eventful season and those that aided in its progression rightfully deserve their recognition. So please, again, take into consideration the entirety of this season and nominate those of which you feel truly deserve a spot in the RSTL archives. Now without further adieu, let the voting commence.

A special thanks goes out to Got Life? for his dedication and help with the magazines and the awards and also to TaLi for providing a wonderful template to abide by. I thank you guys very much for your help and support. Once again, I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of all of our participants and if you are not nominated for an award or do not receive one, please understand that your participation is still acknowledged and appreciated. Award Categories:

• The MVP/Most Valuable Poster Award
Purpose of this category: The MVP/Most Valuable Poster Award is as it has always been and that is a generalization of the league’s top participant. This award includes, but is not limited to, the top competitor and contributor to the league and will reflect the overall most important key figure throughout the season.

• The People’s Champion Award
Purpose of this category: The People’s Champion Award should and hopefully will reflect the participant that those of you feel should have or could have won a title, but unfortunately have not. Maybe they were robbed of their title or made it to the title match and fell short in comparison to their opponent. Or maybe it is simply due to the fact that they joined the season at a later date and never had the opportunity to make it to the champ match. Either way, the winner of this award should be more than worthy.

• The Best Storyteller Award
Purpose of this category: The Best Storyteller Award is for those who have constructed and showcased solidly written verses that attempt to tell a story rather than cover a topic. The Best Storyteller should obviously have a profound talent for storytelling as well as being mechanically adept. The Best Storyteller may be the most consistent storyteller or the one whom you feel may have produced the best story throughout this season.

• The Best Topical Writer Award
Purpose of this category: The opposite of the Best Storyteller, this award is dedicated to those in which have produced a solidly composed topical rather than a story. This participant may have opted to consistently showcase his or her ability to cover a topic, or may have simply constructed a stand out topical throughout the season.

Purpose of this category: “In every writing league, you have your people who are clear and concise with their writing, and then there are those who never seem to get their point across as cleanly as they might think they do. That is what this category is for.” (-TaLi)

• The Most Creative Award
Purpose for this category: The Most Creative Award will hopefully reflect the participants whom have gone above and beyond their respectful call of duty. This award is dedicated to those that have pushed the limits of their creativity on more than one occasion and have solidified themselves as creative among the rest.

• The Most Consistent Award
Purpose for this category: Obviously enough, the Most Consistent Award will rightfully be award to the participant who has competed on a consistent level throughout the majority of the season. They may not the best of writers or a dominator among the league, but they have always been consistently good enough and more than usually a pleasure to read.

[Quriosity]

• The Best Flow Award
Purpose of this category: Self explanatory in its nature, this award will reflect the participant who has consistently been a role model of good flow. Some flows are easily defined and it is more than apparent that some readers have conflicted opinions about flow, but the Best Flow Award should be awarded to the participant who has delivered a flow that has been easy to follow by the majority of his or her readers and still intricate in its execution.

• The Rookie of the Year Award
Purpose of this category: It is hard to differentiate between a rookie and an alias, and therefore this award may fall short of its expectation. Nevertheless, the Rookie of the Year Award is to allow recognition for those who are not necessarily new to writing but are new to this league and have been outstanding as competitors.

• The Best Comeback Award
Purpose of this category: The Best Comeback Award is a dedication to those who may have previously been a part of the league in its extensive past, but have come back to prove their abilities and talent and by doing so have further solidified themselves as writers and contenders for the number one spot.

• The Most Underrated Award
Purpose of this category: I think this one should be pretty self explanatory. The Most Underrated Award should reflect the most underrated participant in which was overlooked or never given credit for his potential. It may just be that he or she was never cut a break and continuously competed against the best among the league, or the exact opposite in that he never had the opportunity to compete against a worthy opponent.

• The Most Overrated Award
Purpose of this category: Another self explanatory category. The Most Overrated Award should reflect just that, the most overrated participant. This may include the participant who had the easiest road to victory or the participant who continuously battled at the bottom of the totem pole and never met worthy competition.

• The Most Improved Award
Purpose of this category: This may reflect a short or long past. But either or, the Most Improved Award will obviously be awarded to the most improved participant whether they have improved throughout the progression of this season or have made substantial improvements since the league’s past.

• The Most Comedic Award
Purpose of this category: Sometimes there are those who always produce drawn out verses with predictable formats. But then there are those who have pushed the limits and written verses for pure comedic pleasure. Some were more consistent than others and therefore obviously more deserving of this award. But it all comes down to who was actually the most funny and enjoyable to read.

• The No-Show King Award
Purpose of this category: The bottom of the bottom. This award, I personally feel, deserves the least attention and therefore that is what it will receive.

• The Most Washed-Up Award
Purpose of this category: Clear cut. The Most Washed-Up Award reflects the writers who have been dominant in the past or at least have made claims to such clout. However, they have yet to prove their worth this time around.

Purpose of this category: “This category is for that dude who always seemed to be around, but then just totally disappeared from any and all civilization.” (-TaLi)

• The Best Voter Award
Purpose of this category: This award is an attempt to acknowledge those that consistently vote with a blind opinion. The winner of this award may include attributes such as voting early, always voting thoroughly, or consistently voting or more matches than necessary.

• The Biggest Dick Riding Voter Award
Purpose of this category: It may very well be that the winner of this award is in fact a dick rider, or someone that votes for or against names rather than a showing of talent, or it may be that the winner has just been accused of doing so by the most participants. Either way it goes, this award reflects the biggest dick rider amongst the league.

• The Moderator of the Year Award
Purpose of this category: Pretty easily defined. Just take note as to what each has contributed to the league and your decision should be easy.

Purpose of this category: This award is solely dedicated to the moderator who has/ should have received the most flack throughout the year. If you were unaware, CK actually began the efforts of reviving this league but soon quit when he lost a battle that he felt should have been an easy victory.

• The Most Hated to Love Award
Purpose of this category: Wow. It’s a shame that this category even has to exist. But nevertheless, in any league, group, or society there is always a most loved and a most hated. I chose to name this award “Hated to Love” because mostly all of the beef surrounding these individuals has been petty and bogus and nearly all of the participants that have been/will be nominated are actually good competitors.

• The Biggest Whiner Award
Purpose of this category: Another category in which its existence is a shame. In every league there is a whiner out there who is more than willing to accept a victory due to a technicality. Whatever the bitch bitches about is irrelevant to the fact that the bitch is indeed a bitch. But being that I try not to curse often, instead of the bitch of the year, I have opted to title this the biggest whiner. But just think “bitch” and your decision will be clear.

Purpose of this category: Obviously enough, this category is an opportunity to showcase the best of the best, the cream of the crop, or quite frankly the very best verse that you have read this year. There are so many to choose from, so please jog your memories and vote for the verse that left the biggest imprint in your brain.

Purpose of this category: Much like the verse of the year award, this category is another opportunity to showcase the best of the best. However, instead of just a verse, you now have the opportunity to vote for the actual best match-up of the season.

Purpose of this category: I would prefer to nominate an actual participant with an event to back him rather than just an event. This award is to acknowledge those in which have been big surprises in the year of 2007. Whatever the reason may be to back them, we most certainly never saw it coming.

- Headless Verseman for being a racist

- Got Life? for defeating Vada in the title match

• The Biggest Let Down of the Year Award
Purpose of this category: The exact opposite of its predecessor, this award shall be given to those who have failed to meet our expectations.

- Cereal Killer for bailing out after a loss in the tournament
- J o o k for never voting on any of the match-ups
- Jowelz for no-showing against what could have been the match of the year

• The Funniest Moment of the Year Award
Purpose of this category: Again, I would rather you vote for a participant with an event to back your decision rather than just an event. In this case, the award shall reflect the participant whom produced the funniest moment of the year. This is yet another pretty self explanatory decision.

- Headless Verseman being banned two weeks for being a racist
- Baron Mynd aka Resolute God, Robin Banks!, Horud Sky, & Abn0rmal allegedly battling himself and using multiple names to vote against Dic Gets Gully

• The Beef of the Year Award
Purpose of this category: Although there were many beefs this year that many times involved the same people, none were more outstanding than the next. All subtle in their execution, I really think this one should come down to the actual beef that persisted the longest which will make this one a far more easy decision.

- TheReturn for dominating the top of the league and being the highest ranked competitor of the season
- MCQuriosity aka Eye-Rime for being the second highest ranked competitor of the season, a consistent writer, and moderating the league at the same time
- Poetickz for being a standout rookie of the season
- RICO for enduring for such a long time with quit possibly the worst record in the history of the RSTL
- Got Life? for being signed in every week since September 2005


• The Top 10 Writers of the Season
Purpose of this category: Pretty self explanatory once again. Needless to say, the list currently provided is in no particular order whatsoever and is therefore only here to provide you with a template when selecting your top 10. However, you are obligated to produce a list of 10 writers in order ranked from 1 to 10 in which the top 10 writers will then be determined by the amount of votes received. Please, make your decisions wisely and consider all things, including but not limited to actual records, longevity, activity, participation, writing ability, consistency, and connectivity to the other participants of the league.
