Well, over 50% of the league no showed so..... there's not really much to holla about, but I figure I'd homor yall anyway and do a lil mini mag

LMMFAO ----- I HAVE NO IDEA WHY STUPID ASSHOLES ARE ALWAYS TRYNA ACT LIKE THEY KNOW THE RULES BETTER THAN….. ESPECIALLY WHEN I’M THE ONE THAT’S WRITTEN MOST OF THE RULES. IF I’VE TOLD YOU, YOU’VE BROKEN A RULE, THEN YOU’VE BROKEN A RULE. NONE OF YOU ARE SPECIAL ENOUGH FOR ME TO BE GOING OUT OF MY TO ENFORCE RULES THAT DON’T EXIST…..

For some reason most of the league didn’t show up to their matches when it clearly states the due times of verses. This is what it says in each thread….

Excuses are just weak as fuck…. It not only says due 12am Sunday, but it goes on to say that this means Sunday, early early, start of the morning. For some reason, Anaphora wanted to be an asshole and argue that verses were due Sunday night and went on to post in his match thread and in one of the stickied threads with unfounded complaints that he will be posting his verse Sunday night and it won’t be late even after I explained that he just made a foolish mistake and shouldn’t wait til the last moment to post his verse because mistakes like this can be easily avoided by writing your verses ahead of time. LMAO @ after being proven completely wrong with his arrogant bullshit and complaints on rules, he wants to ask why I’m such a dick… Give me a fuckin break dumb ass. Enforcing the rules doesn’t make me a dick, in this case Anaphora, you’re being much more of a dick than me.. no, I take that back, you’re just being a punk ass bitch.

If anyone is going to argue the rules with me, I hope you know what you’re talking about because there isn’t anyone within this league, other moderators included, that knows the rules better than me because they were written and adjusted by me. I often go out of my way to let the members vote on adjusting the rules so I’m not trying to be King of this place, it’s a democracy and if you want rules adjusted, then you are free to make suggestions and I will take them into consideration. Speaking of which, I’m sure you have seen that there is a new poll to vote on. Since people are still having problems showing on time even after the last modification I made to extend verse due dates to Sunday, 12am from Sat., 12am, which is what it’s always been before I changed it, I put up bill so to speak to be passed with your approval. This new rule if it passes will allow people to show late if they get their opponents approval, but will receive a penalty of -2 votes in their match. I voted against it and it seems like everyone agrees with me so far that since you can obviously read, then you should be able to read and follow the rules.

Nique made a tiny appearance to reiterate that she is indeed a woman because I said that I keep hearing she’s a dude…. . People from Rb keep telling me so that’s why I mentioned. Not really something I care about, but she felt a need to tell me to stfu… lmao…. Shutting me up is a task nobody, not even Jeff has been able to accomplish so don’t get ahead of yourself guy/girl… w/e… I dunno. Lol… Still got luv fa Nique tho when she’s inspired to write shit


Now…. Lets get focused on the more positive shit though. The tournament went pretty well and the writers involved posted some nice verses throughout it so I want to give all of them a round of applause for making the RSTL Winter Master’s Tournament somewhat of a success. We’re approaching the final round and everyone needs to vote on the match so please don’t forget to check it out.

I also want to thank Bull Dog for making a new RSTL banner for us, which I’m sporting for this week’s mag. I like it, it’s the best banner I’ve seen in a while…. Good shit man. No offense to Nanijah, she’s still the folks and of course we appreciate all the banners she’s made for us too. Okay, that’s it…. everyone read the rules and show up to your matches on time.

Toward the end of 1978, rape was the crime committed

I pretty much managed to get past the first year of imprisonment
Thanks to the fact that my family visited weekly
All I could hope was that I could convince them that I was innocent
So they wouldn’t think that I was totally wicked and leave me

Cold showers and meals fit for a dog were daily occasions
I felt angry and lazy; but still, it was mainly impatience
That started making me crazy; I was in control of nothing
And before I knew it, my wife and son only showed up monthly
I knew something was wrong when my mom rolled up in tears
With some papers, by this time, I had been holed up for years
In a voice as sweet nectar but weathered from loads of crying
She said that my wife was leaving me; there was no denying
That I let her down, I never got the sense that she believed me
When I told her of my blamelessness, still, I was completely
Devastated, but I signed all of the papers without hesitation
After I was sentenced I had very little expectation
That they’d stay as long as they did, I was thankful for that
But I never wanted my son to have to feel shameful of dad

My 12th year rolled around, it had been 6 since I’d seen them
The last I heard, she had met some man and moved up to Cleveland
Mom passed during the eighth year and my visitations ceased
All I knew beyond these walls was bits of information reaped

From the cellmates that I had, every so often they’d switch it
Some were young, some were old, some were bold, some were bitches
But each taught me lessons about surviving the slammer
Most were more or less detached but one was highly enamored
With my case, twenty-some years in, I evaded those statements
Cause’ the penitentiary was no safe place for a rapist
Plus, even if I denied it, I knew that no one would buy it
But he kept on trying anyway, so one day I decided
To confide in him, I told him how my wife and I were fighting
To avoid incident, I got the car and started driving
Around town, anywhere but in that house was fine with me
Little did I know, that some girl was being raped violently
When I stopped at Arby’s to get some shit in my system
The police picked me up and said that I fit the description
The rest is history; the man told me how he lost his daughter
After he’d gotten busted for vehicular manslaughter
That he was in law school before he succumbed to this bane
And said he had a friend who could help if I truly wasn’t to blame

Toward the end of 2006, a judge granted my release
Said the state was sorry and they'd get me planted on my feet
All the while, they came off with a hint of pompousness
Still they did continue to help me after the press conferences
Too bad they didn't test for DNA back when my trial was up
Maybe I'd still be with my ex, helping my child and stuff
I'm getting back into the swing, only good to come, hopefully
But nothing will erase the 28 years of freedom they stole from me

Match of the Week

Match of the week was an obvious and easy choice this time because these 2 put up the best verses this week as the no show storm sweeps through every league match, but 2. This was a nice match regardless though and they both could of beaten any league verse so....

Tali ~ Pent

~ Eastern Finals ~ Pent Up -vs- Tali Rodriguez

Tali Rodriguez did more of a tragedy felt piece with his character development of a man wrongly assuced of rape. That's some harsh shit.... he goes through his life of losing his family and slowly losing his mind. I wouldn't think this was a clever topic to approach, but the way he narrated it made it more appealing. He did a Sac like thing with his wording in sequence of his flow. It read a lil weird, but follows through nicely. Not heavy on rhymes and shit, but it developed smoothly.

Pent up threw a clever verse together with an adverse view of the war. As he narrated this from a general's point of view with some pretty nice flow, it was easy to follow. The topic of the pic was nicely used as the general was made into a gate keeper of death, I thought that was pretty clever to end it like that. The aggressive voice was a nice touch too. There were a few moments of clever wording that I appreciated too and made me think of some army character tryna be a hard ass.... It covered more than just the hard shit of war though with a cute mention of loving your soldiers... Pretty cool shit

Bull Dog: Nothin Much, just joined up on this RSTL League, seemed cool, so I decided to join up

Gabriel: yea, we hold it down on the verse writing shit. Good to see new ppl get involved tho. What's your take on the league so far? Any likes, dislikes

Bull Dog: Im liking the topics, especially the picture ones, some funny & deep ish... I feel there should be a voting panel/team, to vote on people's battles, cause I know what a lot of voters are thinking... They just read half of the verse, not caring, because they just want votes on there own battle...I'm not saying I do this though..

Gabriel: lmao, that's an interesting take on it. I think the rstl is a lil more mature than most leagues though because we stress practicing the good qualities of real voting. I feel what you're sayin though.... a lot of leagues kinda seem like that

Bull Dog: Yeah, we'll I'm talking about the new members that join the league also, they just vote out of no where...

Gabriel: What kind of writer would you describe yourself as being?

Bull Dog: Well, I like to write more about deep & emotional topics.. A lot of times about god or something in that relation.. But I am now getting into audio & I'm still trying to find my style in there.. Dont know if I want to keep it deep like in topical or switch it up.. Guess I'll find out..

Gabriel: it's always good to try and be diverse... writers get stuck in a rut when they keep the same format sometimes... but yea, you'll see what works for you
Gabriel: Anybody you've recognized in the league that you like and why?

Bull Dog: Me & OneiRic is cool, from the league, we both talked to each other and ish.. Might be doing a collab.. Not much people I recognize thow, RM is very different than other rap boards, that a fact.
Bull Dog: And There was a lot of people that I've read verses from in this week & I'm feeling Dreamcaster & TeKneeK's topicals and styles the most

Bull Dog: The Content & Structure is very important..But when voting for topicals, I feel you need imagery, A good story(introduction & conlusion) & rhyme scheme(if needed)...Also, vocabulary catches my attention a lot better, than some elementary rhymes/words...
Bull Dog: Creativity is big too

Gabriel: Yea, I'm feeling that. sometimes a natural flow/ using rhymes in a natural voice gets me more than the big words tho... but all those are solid things to look for

Bull Dog: Yeah, I mean natural flowing and rhymes are good for audio & text..But in topical, its okay to, I'm just saying it catches my attention more.. Thats all..

To honor some of the great moments that RSTL matches are made of.... I've decided to dedicate an article to remember some cool matches. I don't even remember this one because I wasn't here when it happened yet.... but some of you may

it's fresh smell lingered like week old death~
deep inhalations of methanol with each small breath~
a see-saw test - conscience trapped...do I free all blessed?
On a journey like this one it's hard to please all guests...

Standing tall before the sunset with conquers in sight~
Struck my customized zippo for the marlboro light~
Take 2 strong drags ....*inhale*....think back on my plight~
clarify that I've no hard feelings - nothing in hindsight~
Mind's right, Another pull, crouch low to the ground~
Spark the zippo once again - listen close for the sound..

hear the fluid burn inside of the engraved metal case~
the burn and crackle of the flames bring a grin to my face~
gonna miss this nostalgic piece - gonna be hard to replace~

it was January 8th...the amber waves of grain
were tarped by a white blanket so my dander stayed the same
the sky submitted a vibe supplied through tampered shades of grey
the banter stayed away cause i was face with candor day by day
slander raged my brain and reputation seemed to urge my goal
to flea, i urned the road you see i speeded, creed detered my soul
free to learn alone i left my parents bleak concerns at home
cause each one hurt me hoping that my self esteem would burn me whole
at least i hurdled though, here i am, headed to Massachusetts
i've been accepted to Boston College, clean slate, new class of students
happy too its the only decision i made without mass confusion
that was true until i started writing on this pad you're viewing

i was zooming, the road was frozen i had my music on high
with school in my eyes, worrying had no room in this guy
practically everything that i owned was crammed and consumed in the ride
the future was mine...a graduate of computer design?
22 until 5, A.M., i caught a view of the sky
the sun rise was a peeping tom with the earth seduced by it's eyes
my movements deprived, tension tip toed steps through to my spine
as time elapsed the past was fast to just start abusing my mind
the truth was inside, building, it soon invented this stress
i was really inept, with rude gestures implementing my breath
a sheet of ice became the bully's foot tripping me just to wreck
the instrument of my death, but it wasn't it for me yet
my face shattered the windshield, i was in the ditch for a sec
saved by a seat belt that sledge hammered a dent in my chest
i was sitting here vexed, inverted, hurt, with a cringe in my neck
happy to be alive and lucky glass didn't rip me to shreds
a limp in my leg, i finally got out and started to wander
the cold became my father's drunk hands: breathing got harder and harder
farther and farther, i kept my stride but denial would expand lathering
my doubt cause all i saw were sheets of white like Klan gatherings
"my damn dandering"...put me in this situation i hold
appeared ok, but veered away, couldn't concetrate on the road
now im being raped in the cold by a full oasis of snow
time's evaporated it feels like this happened ages ago
my pace became slow i soon was faced by a cave on a slope
a glacier, behold, but later it was potrayed as my home
no Holiday Inn but modeled a scent of nature's cologne
so i stayed in it knowing physically i wont able to roam
til the days wouldn't go fast enough....i decided to leave
craving some hot soup and a glass of warm apple cider in me
desires and pleas, changes through my entire belief
lighters for heat or dry debree to make me a fire atleast
i would stop and write what i see, birds made a choir for me
i felt like my life was just meat...that would expire in weeks
but the cold was perserving me, yet i required some heat
my vitals decreased, i guess i was meant to die in the sleet
i retired to sleep, Exhausted, Hungry, Denying to stand
i felt intrigued and started dreaming about the life of a man
who had everything that he wanted a mere reach outside of his hand
and to get it was just exposed here...on my Final Exam
