There seems to be an epidemic of non voting in the league when these people are the actual winners of the match. As we all should know because it's been a rule for several months is, if you don't vote on 4 matches when your opponent shows, you will not advance in the ranks. This might be a different rule that some 'Vets' aren't aware of so I highly encourage returning members to read the new rules. Things have been changed to avoid problems that occured in the past. A lot of matches got slept on last week so some voting would be appreciated ninjas.


Well, everything else is still at a good level of skill being developed and guess what..... I even really liked Urizen's verse this time around in the champ match. With some improvements in his flow, he's gonna be a nice ass writer that people will not get easy wins from. Doin da damn is what the fuck we do here and he did that shit...... Sac is just great with this flow and narrative voice so this is more than likely what caused an inspirational surge in MrMister, but still, gotta appreciate what he did with that verse.

I continued reading the rest of the verses in a drugged stuper because I got my wisdom teeth pulled saturday morn. They had to snag and pull, grab and twist..... then in the middle they start talking bout one of my molars has my baby tooth still attatched. That shit looked nasty.... like sabertooth teeth.


Anyway though, I was feeling all of the matches and it made me smile, it wasn't just the drugs talking, but I'm sure they helped. Vicadin is the shit... chea TheReturn and Ribo, Sac and MrMister, Vigil and Pain, IllWeeman and Xiahou Dun, Archive and Kryptical and Street Poet and Blackwell all putting in some nice verses. This is what I was hoping the league would turn into with some nice leadership. Big thanks to my mods for helping it along and hug props to all you writers that continue to do da damn...... that's fa mothafuckin sho. Stole an idea for another article so I decided to roll wit it.

Sadly IV didn't show to his match after the big deal he made of facing IllWeezy from the win..... there was a lil bit of a fight in there as Dreamcaster made a stupid remark about Starscream fuckin his fem bot. Megatron/IV didn't like that and made a note that it wasn't Starscreen as Dream had though. I thought it was getting too post friendly so I had to stop em before they got penalized for free posting. Beefs are settled in da ring with skills right? Grudge match, grudge match, grudge match.... I hope IV didn't get arrested. He's been online for 2 days straight, but not responding. Villianish shit leads to trouble.... but it feels sooooo gooooodd. They should let citizens kill people on death row. That'd help out the sociopaths and reduce our crime rate. I'm a genius.... here's the mag fools

ILLWeeMan Vs. Xiahou Dun

Everyone probably assumed that this match would just be easy win for WeeMan, me included, but the narration used by Xiahou was great...... severely stretched, but still nice. Makes me remember Omen and Talent, hhhhmmmm.....

Xiahou came in with the few lines and I was feeling it. Helped me get into the content as it started to unravel.... Some really long lines that made the flow go on forever, but the narration was dope. The way this character was drawn, I was thinking going insane or something along those lines. Then he mentioned the syringe and I knew it was about a dopefiend..... that took away from it a little bit with their being not much of an unknown factor...still the descriptions of going through this weird, freaky heroine high that had me keep reading it. Other people said they weren't feeling this much, but I think that's because of the topic, which doesn't seem that creative and maybe a lil played, but he braught some great shit to it and I was liking the read..... yall are turning me into a reader by writing these mag articles and this piece is one of a good writer. Flow could be beter and needs to find some better choices to lead his subject matter, but for what the topic is worth, this was dynamic to me.

ILLWeeMan showed some veteran skills in this match with an intense build on his story that was lead purely with great details and strong narrator's voice. The topic he chose was very interesting, but what he did with it was even better. The story lead of defects of your birth made you special was turned into a cursed boy who served as the reaper of his town in bringing death to all of those close to him..... this of course left him secluded and that's where Weezy's content displayed his ability to give great insight into his character to really connect with all the shit Joeseph, the cursed boy, was going through. Everybody stayed away from so the last person that had a duty to be by his side is the Shakespearian type of sequence braught. His mom, he was never able to hug her, town thought he's at fault for her cancer and he ends this with sending her off to heaven with a hug. That's some deep shit like a play, but well put together in just 60 or so lines. I know Weezy and know he's skilled with it, but this was just dope enough to surprose me still.

MrMister Vs. Sacrifice
I wasn't expecting this to be a match that I'd enjoy this much, but Urizen came in with his creativity and gave it a good shot. Improvement, that's what this shit is about... of course, Sacrifice came in and did his shit nicely, but we've come to expect that from him.

This was a great week to show how charactert development can be done nicely with several examples. One of the great examples was from SacriFICE , who has a nice way with his voice and a high caliber rhyme structure to go with it. Usually, I see a lot of topicals from Mr winning streak with strengths usually put on the way he words things.... just like a battler, lol.... but he's getting more on developing characters too. Well, he does this week at least with a cynical guy that has lost his faith in the systems that guide most societies... religion, politics.. shit like that. Doesn't sound like the greatest of subjects because several people have shared this view, but he does something in this verse that made it more appealing. The character is introduced like it's a famous person, I'm thinking maybe a politician that went bad.. Jerry Springer or somebody like that, but the cynic is himself. Didn't see that coming and although, not something I'd think of as creative, his words turned the simplicity of the subject into a nice verse with multies, inners and word choices of great narration.

MrMister keeps surprising me as his skill level continually elevates in matches. I remember back when he really just seemed like a very unfocused writer and now..... he's grown to bring his creativity up, his sequence of events is more entertaining and his characters are more developed. There's only one thing missing to truly start seeing some great verses from Urizen... we all know what it is. The flow.... it's needed to make reading his verses that much stronger. This week, his character development was weird as I was thinking, aaawww man, that's too simple to have a fool just get killed. Super played, but nah.....his approach wasn't and that made it pretty cool. This wasn't a murder as it appeared, it was a suicide and there lies the twist as his character turns into 2 characters from a mirror and kills himself. The outline is a breakdown of both characters and the multiple personality thing isn't the freshest either, but still I liked how he did this as it went from killer to victum as if they were really different people... then the ending of committing suicide in a mirror was a conclusion that hit me. Get your flow up and work on your wording along with those rhymes and you'll get that confidence to beat fools for a title man. Do da damn Mr.... I'm feeling the growth, no homo.....

Kryptical Vs. Archive

Both of these writers came with very nice developing stories that had surprising endings, great narratives and some nice ass flow. Wasn't sure what to expect from this match, but I knew I'd want to read it.


Kryptical came in first and blasting with a gravy verse... aka, the flow of it all was poured smoothly. After a lost last week that I thought was close with Ribo, he was hungry for a victory and showed that shit. After last week, I knew this guy has been hiding his skills, maybe he was just not comfortable with displaying it yet, but he's gotten over that and shows a verse of nice details. The descriptions of this piece seem strange at first as you try to figure out what's taking place... like the scene of a church and his character is possessed or something was my first thought as to what this was leading towards. Gave a creepy kind of feel like demonic pressences were going to come.... I wanted to sing Michal Jackson's Thriller, but it wasn't about that all as his ending put it all together, well not completely together as to what was happeneing, but enough to understant..... his character was retarded and just describing things. Weird, but a very nice verse and well developed.


My boy Archive came in to show his creative insight with an entertaining chase that made his verse fun to read. Not to mention the dope way he narrated it and gave it a natural flow that made the read oily... not just smooth, but quick moving to slip down the content fast. Bad metaphor?... ok, maybe, but the verse was nice. As he built up his character by trying to return something that sombody drops, being a nice guy and several obstacles get in his way from trying to do the right thing. Security people try to stop him and I was left wondering wtf.... why are people fuckin wit dude? Along the way to finding that out, Archive has a lot of cool lines with some double meanings and it was pretty funny with a satiracle touch on politics. He puts it all together with him giving the president back his wallet. Nice, but why give that punk (_!_) back his wallet? Lol, I'd keep it and burn it after spending all the scrills in it.

Pain Vs. Vigil

I also knew this would be a close and nicely paired match up and so did yall mothafuckas. Makes me kind of glad that the fools didn't vote last week because that's why they faced each other this week. Hahahaha, scooby dooby doo, where are you? We got some work to do now.... oh, I'm tripping. Too many meds, I'm missing some teeth. Not to delusional though cuz wooo, dope verses fuck heads.

Pain definately got my attention with this piece as he formatted this lovely and braught each character to life. There seems to be 2 different villians in this one, I wish insanevillian would of chose this tops and showed up to his match..... seemed like it was up his alley. P dog did his thing with it though so it definately didn't go to waste. Using the topic of a story lead with the four characters of villian, virgin, victum and witness. 3 Vs and a W... looking like a bunch of pointy tittys. VVVW.... I'm trippin, lol.... I really like this verse, one of the best that I read this week. The flow was fire and the character developments, all of them were great and lead the story through some nice action. An attempted rape on the virgin as some twisted fool grabs her, some super hero comes out and tries to negotiate, but she saved by the witness.... nice turn of events. Keep it up man, if you dropped Lifeless, your crew would actually be dope.

Then that mothafucka Vigil came in and I already was thinking, Pain did his thing and elevated above the schemes I usually see with some creative shit that I really liked, but hold up, wait a minute, that ninja V wants to take the winnin.... Concept used isn't the freshest, I've actually written a piece along these lines and most of us have, but the development of it was a great outline of our league. The 2 characters he develops though seem to be himself and Pain as he discusses poets at war, matched to fight with the artistic gifts. The wit was fresh shit, not the normal way I've seen this topic reached.

And the art form will be xploited with nobody left to mention it's name
Some will be creditted as the inventors, but the invention will change....

Great way to display the way an era changes our league and as I've said, this is a new era of shit. I call it the personality era, where development of character, not character development, seems to bring people to a closeness with the writers. Character development is still some highly important shit though. I thought his sig was the finishing line of this, which made this shit even better... Feelin this.... he came to bring it to Pain.

MATCH OF THE WEEK

I knew it was coming and I knew it was gonna be a sick (_!_) match to judge...... of course, I was right. These two have met before and it was a great matchup then with blow for blow, flow on flow action.

TheReturn put it down with a topical this week that showed some of his strengths. Some cool wit and well developed flow that left you wanting to read. His content wasn't creative really, but it was well written. The ideas he used to basically draw the conclusions of religion, politics and hypocracy with details of Roman Catholic homosexualty, which he started with by introducing King James, the guy that formatted the Bible so to speak or as we're lead to believe, as being gay and not following the words he placed such a high importance in. Touche my ninja, touche. King James also slept with his mom from what I heard, but supposedly didn't know it was his mom. A little Edipous thing goin on, but like Return said, when in Rome, do as Romans do. *mental note* never go to rome. Italy is supposed to be the place of romance....hmmm, maybe that's why their organized crime is so well dressed and organized. Lol, nah.... jk..... I think. This was a cool verse on a somewhat used topic that's been covered a few times.....maybe not played, yea, a little played, but nicely done.

Ribo came in ready to swing and bring da pain, literally as his piece goes through the ordeal of a person slowly losing their life. Not in an emotional way, not suicidal or anything like that, but still very tragic. A creative take on his narration which made this character develop nicely. He didn't do the usual sick portrayal of death scapes, pain and anguish and shit like that..... Nah, not my ninja. He did it with a saddened view of his family and friends and entire life being over so his attitude was poor as it may be if you never got the chance to live a rich and fulfilling existence. I actually wanted some of that torture shit though, lol, call me demented I guess, but a lil internal bleeding, coughing up blood, turning cold and pale and a flu turning into the plague.... CHEA ......but I like what was done here though. His narration was also really natural and that made me want to continue the read. Some powerful flow and still kept the writer's voice through it all.

I can't say I was impressed, but that's only because I know both of these guys are some great writers so this is exactly the kind of shit I expect from them. I wasn't let down though and they did da mothafuckin, titty suckin, dic in a rubber pumpin damn and fucked some shit up.... (in a good way)

TaLi's Top 5 Verses

I seriously can’t tell yall’ how impressed I am with the caliber of writing this week. I could pretty easily do a top ten, but I’ve already written too damn much. Sorry. Anyways, here we go.

5. IllWeezy

Good old fashioned solid writing right here. I can tell that you’re still a tiny bit rusty, but still, I think a lot of people would be happy with this as their best. There weren’t any grand twists or anything. This piece was all about the torment Joseph felt and the curse that seemed to follow him everywhere he went. I thought you captured that shit pretty convincingly. The flow was pretty nice for the most part. The rhyme schemes were pretty straightforward but the rhymes themselves were pleasant to read. Like I said, this was pretty strong all-around. I hope you stick around long enough to really get in the groove.

4. Ribonuclease

I had a really hard time trying to figure out whether it was you or Return that I’d put in fourth. I went back and forth a few times. I guess this is how it ended up. You’ve gotten better since when I first read your stuff back in 2005. WAY better! I said this at some other point – maybe when I was voting once – but you remind me of RIKOSHAY like, back in 2002/3 when his style was really starting to come together. The rhymes are the obvious strong point here. I’m a sucker for good, natural rhyming and you pretty much destroyed that aspect here. The story was cool too. It sort of reminds me of a more detailed version of a verse I used in the league a month or two ago. Anyways, this was damn good, and I’m writing this early, but if it happens to win, I wouldn’t be shocked.

3. The Return

This might be going out on a limb a bit but I think you’re probably my favorite writer signed in at the moment. SacriFICE is right there and Baron is right there but something about your writers just seems comfortable to me lol. You use a lot of rhymes, but you don’t really over-do it. You dive deeper into topics than a lot of people, but you don’t lose your coherence in the process. It always feels like a quick read when I’m checking your stuff out, even if it is 50+ lines. I’ve been told that those are pretty much my strengths so I guess it’s not particularly shocking that I’d like your work. Anyways, that all came across general, but all of that applies to your piece this week. The concept itself reeeeeally wasn’t anything too terribly groundbreaking, but it was written so well that I still enjoyed reading it. Plus, everybody has to get their religious/political rocks off every once in a while.

2. SacriFICE

I’m a cynic by nature – or maybe nurture – so I really liked where you went with this. I don’t really know what to say about this piece that I haven’t already said to you a couple of hundred times on AIM but um, the rhymes were pretty much ridiculous, the flow was about as smooth as one could hope for considering I’m reading and not listening, and the wording/way you describe the plight of a cynic is more or less top notch. This will sound funny, but I would love it if you switched the rhyme schemes up a little. Your rhymes are terrific, but something like going back and forth within one line would sort of ••••e things up a little, not that this really needed it. I’m just nitpicking because I really don’t have a hell of a lot more to say in terms of compliments. I think I’ve already pretty much said it all.

1. Baron Mynd

Way to take what amounts to the most played out topic in writing – religion – and make something utterly fucking mind-blowing out of it. I was reading over some old matches and I remember someone telling another person that if they are going to used an overused subject, you really have to flip the shit out of it for it to have any sort of substantial impact upon the reader. Aside from that, the rhymes were pretty nice to read as well. The flow was pretty nice. My favorite aspect of the whole piece is the imagery. You really painted a hell of a scene with this. The same thing I told SacriFICE about switching up the rhymes a little bit also applies to you, but so does the statement about nitpicking so yeah lol. Good stuff.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever gone 52 straight weeks without signing or being kicked out. Love him or hate him, you gotta respect Got Life's consistency. I figured since he's the only person who's been here for the last year non-stop, I'd ask him for his thoughts on it. If you hate this guy, just bypass now.

TaLi - What in the hell possessed you to stay signed in for 52 straight weeks?

Got Life - Hmm...that's a tough one...honestly...I have no fucking clue...it kind of started as a joke between me and you...and then tekneek said some crazy shit about how he was going to be the iron man...and I was like...yo fuck that little bastard...i'ma do one better...except unlike that goofy fuck...I actually kept to my word...and here I am...even though these last months i've been completely uninspired...I made it through 52 straight weeks in the league...Who knows why people really do what they do

TaLi - In order, or not, who are the 5 best writers you’ve read in the last year and why?

Got Life? - Can't do it in order because well...I don't care to do it in order...Richard Corey...this has been a name played to death in association with favorites, but he just has a very natural way that he develops his stories and it just captures me and keeps me entertained the entire time that i'm reading it.

TaLi - I'd have to put you up there as well because you always have a very real approach and I feel as though I can always relate to what you're writing about, to boot you've got the mechanics down tight.

Got Life? - Jook is another one that comes up...he'll always write something that will hit or miss and I respect him for taking risks...beyond that his writing always makes you think and that what if Jesus is Osama piece was nuts.

TaLi - Lost Prophet has to go up there too...I was actually talking to him today about the state of the league and all that...he's a really level headed cat and as far as writing goes...he's extremely creative and a very polished writer who people should not sleep on if he ever comes back to this shit hole.

Got Life? - Lastly...Pain...what can I say...he's one of my favorites as far as how he approaches subjects and the way he flows, that's also why we mesh well and are in a crew together...it's one of the things you don't see in the league much...which is what pain brings...a genuine piece...like you read something he wrote...and you can feel that it's real and something relatable...unlike all these homos that write about obscure ideosincracies...prolly spelled that wrong.

TaLi - In order, or not, who are the 5 worst writers you’ve read in the last year and why?

Got Life? - Linxz...he's garbage...and I don't think he ever legitimately won a match...talk about a dude who's completely dillusional about his level of skills...when everyone tells you that you suck and you get no respect...even in the open mic section of the board...maybe we're not just all haters...Blackwell...i'll give him credit for trying...but my grandmother doesn't even speak english and she could outwrite him. Flor...the dude takes washed up concepts...doesn't do anything to make them original and then tries to copy other people's styles, but he's clearly using a rhyming website to try and find rhymes and so his word usage is off and his pieces just never captivate you or anything. Kriminal...he didn't post much in the RSTL...but that guy needs to retire from rapping and go spend more time realizing why there are no big time rappers coming out of Australia...some things are just not meant to be. I just read Rocket's verse today...and he sucks...so I guess i'll throw him in the top 5 worst because I can't jog my memory all that much.

TaLi - What have been the biggest changes you’ve witnessed in the league this past year (good and bad)?

Got Life? - Honestly...as far as good changes over the course of the year...I can't really say that I see any...a year ago...the league was running...run by you...there were vets signed in...competition was rough...voting was good...writers were being real...and the mags were interesting...Now the mags are all just one big editorial...filled with nothing anyone really cares to read unless their name is mentioned...finding a vet in the league is about as hard as finding waldo...and people are writing some sappy homocentric poetry...I hate the trend that the writing in this league took and I have to agree with Lost Prophet on this...the league has really lost it's prestige.

TaLi - What are 5 things that haven’t changed for shit in the past year lol (good and bad)?

Got Life? - Five things that haven't changed...

TaLi - Can you think of the worst battle you’ve read?

Got Life? - I can't really think of the worst battle i've read off the top of my head, but it was between two no names and I think I suggested that they both kill themselves.

TaLi - What has been the best battle that you’ve participated in this past year?

Got Life? - The best battle I was in was actually my Contender match with Jook and Lost Prophet...the three of us put up stellar verses and it was easily one of my favorite matches to read.

TaLi - What has been the worst battle you’ve been a part of in the past year?

Got Life? - My battle with claushouse that was filled with a lot of shady shit going on in the background on account of moderators and rules being bent left and right...it was just one giant mess.

TaLi - What one thing have you done in the past year that you’ve been most proud of, least?

Got Life? - I've been proud that I've kept very real to myself and have developed my writing more...I'm not ashamed of anything I’ve done or anything along those lines though.

TaLi - If you could change one thing about the league that would make it better, what would it be?

Got Life? - I'd make 90% of the writers in the league that are straight up queers into straight people and then maybe we'd be able to read more rap and less emo garbage.

TaLi - Will you ever sign back in again?

Got Life? - I can't say I won't...but I have no desire to be a part of the league in it's current state.

TaLi - What’s your biggest regret, if you have any?

Got Life? - Fuck regrets.

TaLi - How will you fill the void left behind from beefing with D.I.C. & Pent and anyone else?

Got Life? - Honestly...i'm sure they'll still run into me on RM and try to beef with me...because the league will be lonely without me...but as for me...i'll be glad to be gone from all of it...that shit doesn't affect my real life and is not something I need...simple as that...

In wack efforts to straighten his first lie with another lie, Lifeless said I cried to Tek.... lol, me and Tek were beefin during the whole time Lifeless and him were modding and fucked up the league with wack and fraudulent rules so why would he give me a title cuz I'm crying?

This is that glitch in the archives where Solaris beat Lifeless, but didn't get the win cuz a 40 line limit made as a new rule to benefit his wack ass verse. This is just part of the reason some of us are happy you're gone weak ass.
