RBL Magazine: A Continuation Of Last Week

I was having a hard time coming up with a caption this week. But
since last week was "A Return To Prestige", and since RBL had such a great
week, with only a more promising week in the future, it's only proper to
name this mag a "Continuation Of Prestige".

Why A continuation? Well, last week was so good, that word is
catching on. With a slew of dope people signing up, in addition to the
people we already got in the league. We're looking at, Oneduh, John
Hensley, Spit That, Username, Scientz, Mets, Defcon, Franchise,
Calefaction, Butler, AOD, Headless Verseman, Demik, Lazerus & ARIZCATS all
in 1 week. Shit is heating up, and the RBL finally has some stiff
competition to further legitimate the champions of the league.

I believe we are reaching a point, where winning the title NOW,
finally has some meaning again. With that said, more and more names people
like to see in the league should be signing in, to make a name for
themselfs in ANOTHER generation. Its 1 thing to win a title a couple years
ago, but to win 1 now makes you even more of a competitor.

We are on the right track, now all we got to do is stay on course.
We have proven why RM is considered the mecca of all battle leagues, now
its time to see how high we can go before we peak.

RBL Week Overview

Great week last week. Probably the best week RBL has seen in
months, if not since I modded last. (Probably). There was FEW no shows.
Only 3 in top 20, and Im hoping for less this week. The 3 clowns were "Hi
Im Rusty, Oliver Twist & Retulen Reactus". No big loss there.

Furthermore, the bottom half of the league had alot of matches,
much more than usual. There was about 10-12 no shows total, again, nobody
I'm gonna miss. Overall, about 50/63 people showed up for their matches
this week, which is a really good percentage.

I think everyone noticed the increased voting this week. Granted
with more votes, comes more bad votes, but...Id rather have a few bad votes
than no voting at all. Almost ALL matches recieved a fair amount of votes,
and rightfully so. If you dont post them links, you aint getting a fucking
win, I dont care who you are.

Most impressive is the number of votes in the contender and Champ
matches. It looks like most everyone fufilled their obligation to dropping
votes on the matches that most shape the league, so Im very happy with
that. Hopefully this trend will continue. I dont care how lazy you are,
you have to admit, getting a few more votes squeezed in on your battle is a
good thing.

Great job all, & thanks for the effort.

RBL Line Limit Change, AGAIN

Okay, Im just as tired of it as you all are. The new line limit will work like this.

BOTTOM HALF OF LEAGUE

--Will continue to be 10-16 lines.

----No reason to be wasting all your good lines until you reach the top anyway.

TOP 20

--Will be 10-24 lines.

----I Noticed alot of people still wanting to do more than 16. So there ya go. More than 24 is unneccesary though.

CONTENDER & CHAMP MATCHES

--Minumum 16 lines
--Maximum 50 lines (However this must be agreed on by both AHEAD of time)

Im tweaking these line limits in an effort to make the league more
competitive, and make voting less boring. So there it is, follow them up.

RBL Duds

The first DUD for this week, is a little fag named INFO. I seen your little fucking 1 line votes in every battle you voted on, and this is completely unacceptable.

For this, you shall be punished. This week, in IN FOs battle,
anyone who votes with anything more than a 1 line vote, the vote will be
discounted. I dont care if you say "Vote other guy". The vote will stand.
Your voting is unacceptable, and you will see how it feels to have retards
vote on your battles.

Voting is the foundation of the league, without good voters, the league
will not succeed. So just know, I have my eye on EVERYONE. Dont be next
weeks "In Fo".

Big shout outs to IMPERIAL again as well. Go do your wack fucking net
audios, no showing faggot. I dont blame you, I wouldnt wanna get served by
a newbie twice in 2 weeks either. Your fucking garbage, and I'd appreciate

Shout Outs & Congratulations To...

Congratulations To DEFCON_5

For bodying this weeks cypher. Granted it wasn't a fierce cypher
by anymeans, there has to be a winner, and of the 16 people Defcon had the
best lines.

While I don't think it was as good as Dills line, it was still
nice. It was still enough, to get a win in the cypher and a loss removed from his record. I thought that first couplet was funny as hell, while the second one had enough follow through to not take away from the first line.

I really am surprised I'm not seeing nicer shit in these cyphers.
Maybe people feel I am gonna be biased, but Eyedill would tell you, he never thought I'd pick him, Defcon, prolly the same..

My advice? I understand cats dont wanna waste lines, so since you only need 2 lines, try and come up with an original nameplay, and a personal, its the same thing as not wasting lines, since these kinds of
lines are hardly recyclable.

Still, the Cypher is a major success, free of freeposts, and other forms of gayness. However, still not enough participation to make one for each half of the league.

Also, lemme know whatcha think about specialty cyphers, and possible ideas. Gotta keep shit fresh round here.

Props To Spit That

In completing a successfull title defense, something that is a rarity in text battling now a days, and with that win, he picks up the best record in the league.

Not to mention, his first defense was of a respectable battler, who is no push over, Demik. Props Spit, lets see how long you can go.

RBL CHAMPIONSHIP: Spit That (Defending) vs Demik

Good champ match, however, not outstanding, at least good enough to maintain the prestige the match is suppose to maintain. The votes were somewhat split, but Spit That came out with the win. I think both need to work a little bit on wording lines out, sometimes Spits lines are just completely out of wack to me, and sometimes Demik stretches one a bit to far.

RBL CONTENDERSHIP: EYEDILL vs ONEDUH

Another pretty good match, even though in the end Oneduh came out winning with a reasonable amount of votes. Eyedill should consider it a personal victory that he got 7-8 votes anyway. It says something to get votes on a guy like Oneduh. Good battle, but Dilly needed some personals if he wanted to have a better chance at knockin Oneduh.

Must have shaken the rust off, cause when he first came back, I didnt think much of him. But now he is coming consistently nice, and with a great flow. Needs to stray from a few played ideas, but still, a threat in the league.

9. Headless Verseman

Alot of people hate on him, mostly just to fit in. Yeah, he does some stupid shit occassionally, but he is still pretty nice in my mind. His last battle had a few lines, that I considered to be the best of the past year or so. Basically he can beat most of the people hating on him.

8. Banned Name

Dropped in ranks, but not out of them. Afterall, it aint that bad to lose to the current champ. Ol spencer didnt seem to come with it this week, but rest assured, he isnt no wash up. Lets hope he continues to make some waves for himself.

7. Mets
New Entry
Personally, I like Mets more than most people. I think he is dope as hell. He has 1 major flaw though, he is extremely unmotivated and lazy lol. As long as he shows up with some effort, he can blow through anyone in the league, including a number of people in these power ranks.

6. ARIZCATS
New Entry
Alot of newer cats prolly have no idea who this is. Well, he is one of the best to ever do it, up there with the Resins and Fractures of their time. Difference is, unlike Frac, ARIZ is still dope. He stays pretty low key, so alot of people dont notice him, until he drops the best verse they ever seen on them.

5. Username
Last Week (6)
What needs to be said? User is dope, User is winning, User is moving up in power rankings. Pretty basic shit. He aint faced anyone great yet, but he never had much problem even then. Be on the look out, User is hungry :/

4. John Hensley
New Entry
I think by now its obvious John is one of the best on the net, and he has the riders to prove it. he has proven he is the best of this new generation, but also, that he can hold his own with old legends like AOD. I dunno, there is people in the league that can beat him, but he can beat all them too, it all depends on effort. Look for John to tear shit up.

3. Scientz
Last Week (3)
Getting closer and closer to the top. Where he belongs. Scientz has a completely original style, while he does the 3 bar shit to perfection, others are doing it to stretch a line. He also has some of the best "violence" lines around, even tho some people dont like that. My personal favorite in the league right now, should be champion in due time. Just need to get that voting done.

2. Oneduh
Last Week (2)
Dope battler. One of the only ones to completely shut his opponent out in the RM vs B Boys battles. Personally, me and him both like his odds of becoming champion this week. Just so long as he is focused, he is one of the best, now and years ago.

Current RBL Champion, just successfully defended his title against Demik. So who else gon be number 1? Needs to work on that rewording, other than that, he reminds me a bit of John Hensley. Tough match this week against Oneduh, so he really gonna have to step it up to show he deserves that championship title.

Yep, my honest opinion of the top 20 people in the league. (listed in no order, other than the order I think of them), & some honest critiques and criticisms of each. Also, a 1-10 numeric opinion of each. Not being mean in any case, just my honest evaluation of the top 20 people in my honest opinion

Spit That
Spit That is the champ, but by no means the dopest battler in the league. Im feeling your cleverish Hensley punches, but some of your wordplay lines need some work,as well as your overall wording of lines in general (something youve long since had a problem with). 7.5/10

Oneduh
Pretty dope dude, there aint much I can say in the name of criticism, except for his occassional recycling. One of the best writers, and has some of the best wording around. Still, lately he has been winning, but not smashing his opponents the way he should be. 9/10

Scientz
My league favorite. I just dig his style, his punches are among the most creative on the net. If anything, he could work on some personals, cause when 2 dope people clash, its gonne take more than beating them on a creative edge to win. Also, has the best "violent" punches on the net. 9.5/10

John Hensley
Insert everything from power ranks. John is fucking dope, I used to hate on dude, but he really is the real deal. He has beaten tons of people who are considered "of the best". His wording is impeccable, and actually adds to the value of his lines. Could stray from some played ideas, but other than that, John holds it down.9/10

Username
Again, what can you say. A text superstar/legend/whateverthefuckyuwannacall it. Still got some of the best lines around, the problem is motivation. But User seems pretty motivated
lately. Beaten nearly every respectable head on the net. WHAT MORE CAN I
SAY? 9/10

ARIZCATS
A former RBL champ, back around the time of the "Island" era I believe. Not to sound cliche, but he is just one of the most creative and original writers around. Very dope battler. Aint much to say about him, he never around, but he talks through skill. 9.5/10

Mets
As long as he is motivated, he is a real dope battler. I like his style. He has beaten most respectable B BOys heads, though hasnt made a huge name for himself in RBL (considering he no showed contender match). 8.5/10

Banned Name
AkA Demik. pretty good battler, lately been had some played lines, & could take some time on the wording. Still, he has some of the best personal lines around, and he comes with above average creativity. 8/10

Headless Verseman
Jump off the bandwagon. Headless aint wack. He is original, and some people cant understand that. He has ill lines still, with occassional lines so wack they outshine them (pipelines). But Headless is still one of the best. 8.5/10

theFRANCHISE
Got one of the best flows in the league, needs to stray from some played ideas, and he will be set. Ive seen vast improvement over the last several weeks from Franchise though, so he is on the right track. 7/10

Calefaction
Well, here we have Mr Body, and the guy with the longest undefeated record in the history of RBL (being 16-0). Granted I wasnt feeling his shit much in the site battle, im sure after he slays a few newbies in the bottom level of the league, he will be set to drop some fire in the top 20. 8.5/10

Butler
I hate Butler, but, Butler is dope. Usually has 2 or 3 outstanding bars a verse, with enough firepower in the rest to hold him over and get the win. Could stray from some FAR stretches on the brinks of wordplay though. 8.5/10

Defcon_5
Used to be real ill, now he is nice. Iunno, seems like he just does it for the fun of it, which is good, but he dont have that competitive spark to WANT to win every battle. If he put some real time in, he'd be doing alot better than he is. 7/10

Super
Super Dooper! Where have you been? Anyway, Super usually got some good personals, on some ol non chalant shit, question now is will he show
up? 7/10

Young Philly
Under-rated. Young Philly come with some creative shit. Pretty good battler, and his verse from this week prooves it. I dont know much about this guy, but I think he is a B Boys crossover? Iunno, he is well above average though. 7/10

Lazerus
Who the fuck knows? Is this the real laz? If it is, is he still worth a damn? He used to be, and lets hope he still it. 8/10 (tentative)

Meta Syn
Up and coming battler, one of the most creative young guns I seen around. Slowing working up ranks as we speak, he hasnt garnered the attention or recognition he deserves. 7.5/10

Eyedill
Like him or hate him, he has second best record in league (depending on how you look at it). Needs to stop with the lines that are DOWNRIGHT BASIC, and get a little more complex with the wordplay, as well as the personals. 7/10

Calibre
UNDERRRRRRRRRRR RATED. I personally like this kid. He got some shit in his verses thats straight up funny, and original as hell. Dunno why he is so hated? 7/10

Noobie Ned
AKA Mercules from Bboys. I personally like his style, and thought he won this week, though voters disagreed. He been making my top punches, and while he has room for improvement, he is definitely NO Pushover. [7.5/10[/b]

Shouts to Phryme, Willie Dickgood, Drugs & Criteria as well. All holding it down, & all have the potential to be on this list. Anyone I forgot? Show & Proove.

Oh & Shake-Zula from BBOYS aka Purfektion just signed in. Would have got a slot in top 20, but be on the look for him. He's pretty dope.

Also, I had alot of extra time this week, dont expect thorough shit like this everyweek. Not to say I wont make a dope mag, perhaps ive set the bar
too high on this one, and it isnt possible to pass it every week.

Im feeling your cleverish Hensley punches, but some of your wordplay lines need some work,as well as your overall wording of lines in general (something youve long since had a problem with). 7.5/10 Oneduh Pretty dope dude, there aint much I can say in the name of criticism, except for his occassional recycling. One of the best writers, and has some of the best wording around. Still, lately he has been winning, but not smashing his opponents the way he should be. 9/10 Scientz My league favorite. I just dig his style, his punches are among the most creative on the net. If anything, he could work on some personals, cause when 2 dope people clash, its gonne take more than beating them on a creative edge to win. Also, has the best "violent" punches on the net. 9.5/10 John Hensley Insert everything from power ranks. John is fucking dope, I used to hate on dude, but he really is the real deal. He has beaten tons of people who are considered "of the best". His wording is impeccable, and actually adds to the value of his lines. Could stray from some played ideas, but other than that, John holds it down.9/10 Username Again, what can you say. A text superstar/legend/whateverthefuckyuwannacall it. Still got some of the best lines around, the problem is motivation. But User seems pretty motivated lately. Beaten nearly every respectable head on the net. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY? 9/10 ARIZCATS A former RBL champ, back around the time of the "Island" era I believe. Not to sound cliche, but he is just one of the most creative and original writers around. Very dope battler. Aint much to say about him, he never around, but he talks through skill. 9.5/10 Mets As long as he is motivated, he is a real dope battler. I like his style. He has beaten most respectable B BOys heads, though hasnt made a huge name for himself in RBL (considering he no showed contender match). 8.5/10 Banned Name AkA Demik. pretty good battler, lately been had some played lines, & could take some time on the wording. Still, he has some of the best personal lines around, and he comes with above average creativity. 8/10 Headless Verseman Jump off the bandwagon. Headless aint wack. He is original, and some people cant understand that. He has ill lines still, with occassional lines so wack they outshine them (pipelines). But Headless is still one of the best. 8.5/10 theFRANCHISE Got one of the best flows in the league, needs to stray from some played ideas, and he will be set. Ive seen vast improvement over the last several weeks from Franchise though, so he is on the right track. 7/10 Calefaction Well, here we have Mr Body, and the guy with the longest undefeated record in the history of RBL (being 16-0). Granted I wasnt feeling his shit much in the site battle, im sure after he slays a few newbies in the bottom level of the league, he will be set to drop some fire in the top 20. 8.5/10 Butler I hate Butler, but, Butler is dope. Usually has 2 or 3 outstanding bars a verse, with enough firepower in the rest to hold him over and get the win. Could stray from some FAR stretches on the brinks of wordplay though. 8.5/10 Defcon_5 Used to be real ill, now he is nice. Iunno, seems like he just does it for the fun of it, which is good, but he dont have that competitive spark to WANT to win every battle. If he put some real time in, he'd be doing alot better than he is. 7/10 Super Super Dooper! Where have you been? Anyway, Super usually got some good personals, on some ol non chalant shit, question now is will he show up? 7/10 Young Philly Under-rated. Young Philly come with some creative shit. Pretty good battler, and his verse from this week prooves it. I dont know much about this guy, but I think he is a B Boys crossover? Iunno, he is well above average though. 7/10 Lazerus Who the fuck knows? Is this the real laz? If it is, is he still worth a damn? He used to be, and lets hope he still it. 8/10 (tentative) Meta Syn Up and coming battler, one of the most creative young guns I seen around. Slowing working up ranks as we speak, he hasnt garnered the attention or recognition he deserves. 7.5/10 Eyedill Like him or hate him, he has second best record in league (depending on how you look at it). Needs to stop with the lines that are DOWNRIGHT BASIC, and get a little more complex with the wordplay, as well as the personals. 7/10 Calibre UNDERRRRRRRRRRR RATED. I personally like this kid. He got some shit in his verses thats straight up funny, and original as hell. Dunno why he is so hated? 7/10 Noobie Ned AKA Mercules from Bboys. I personally like his style, and thought he won this week, though voters disagreed. He been making my top punches, and while he has room for improvement, he is definitely NO Pushover. [7.5/10[/b] Shouts to Phryme, Willie Dickgood, Drugs & Criteria as well. All holding it down, & all have the potential to be on this list. Anyone I forgot? Show & Proove. Oh & Shake-Zula from BBOYS aka Purfektion just signed in. Would have got a slot in top 20, but be on the look for him. He's pretty dope. Also, I had alot of extra time this week, dont expect thorough shit like this everyweek. -Oz- ^^^^^ Join Date: Sep 2003 Location: 2-25 Posts: 25,620	RBL Week Overview Great week last week. Probably the best week RBL has seen in months, if not since I modded last. (Probably). There was FEW no shows. Only 3 in top 20, and Im hoping for less this week. The 3 clowns were "Hi Im Rusty, Oliver Twist & Retulen Reactus". No big loss there. Furthermore, the bottom half of the league had alot of matches, much more than usual. There was about 10-12 no shows total, again, nobody I'm gonna miss. Overall, about 50/63 people showed up for their matches this week, which is a really good percentage. I think everyone noticed the increased voting this week. Granted with more votes, comes more bad votes, but...Id rather have a few bad votes than no voting at all. Almost ALL matches recieved a fair amount of votes, and rightfully so. If you dont post them links, you aint getting a fucking win, I dont care who you are. Most impressive is the number of votes in the contender and Champ matches. It looks like most everyone fufilled their obligation to dropping votes on the matches that most shape the league, so Im very happy with that. Hopefully this trend will continue. I dont care how lazy you are, you have to admit, getting a few more votes squeezed in on your battle is a good thing. Great job all, & thanks for the effort. RBL Line Limit Change, AGAIN Okay, Im just as tired of it as you all are. The new line limit will work like this. BOTTOM HALF OF LEAGUE --Will continue to be 10-16 lines. ----No reason to be wasting all your good lines until you reach the top anyway. TOP 20 --Will be 10-24 lines. ----I Noticed alot of people still wanting to do more than 16. So there ya go. More than 24 is unneccesary though. CONTENDER & CHAMP MATCHES --Minumum 16 lines --Maximum 50 lines (However this must be agreed on by both AHEAD of time) Im tweaking these line limits in an effort to make the league more competitive, and make voting less boring. So there it is, follow them up.

The votes were somewhat split, but Spit That came out with the win. I think both need to work a little bit on wording lines out, sometimes Spits lines are just completely out of wack to me, and sometimes Demik stretches one a bit to far.
