Welcome to America where we see in black and white;
The land of the free except in freedom of life.
Here even the music on the streets reminds of our strife,
While MLK and Douglass protest for their documented rights.

On legal paper there’s plenty to read;
Your color doesn’t matter now you just need eyes to see,
But buried in the dark the light can blind;
Put you into a bind for more than a century’s time.
Go ahead; blame Mark Twain for where he crossed the line.

But Americans do read their rights and concede;
The police don't count in this since their actually green from greed.
They spout, your skin doesn’t matter if when we pierce it we bleed;
Unless in darkness the nightlight is all you can see.

Does your own religion urge you only to hate?
Did your mother teach you to take too much for your plate?
Or don’t you understand that "just words" have their weight?

Ignorance is bliss until you look out the window to fully see
The rainbow through the rain in its full glory;
The one thing we can chase but can’t touch even briefly.

So I welcome you, child, into the land of the free.

Probably no a lot of traffic on the board I hope that's why this got sleep on......Good drop even though I disagree with a point of two you tried to make in your assertion on police being greedy or maybe I read you wrong....The flow was a bit too contrived for me in places but the body was good enought that I wanted to continue on despite this...Good One

I liked the poem in the sense that it has a good foundation and continuity. However, I felt some portions of the piece could have developed more, but overall I felt it was solid.

this was a nice piece...for me....the ending could have been stronger, never the less this piece was defiently a touching and understandable one. the over all concept really hit home, and the way the piece flowed and was put so well together is what i liked best!1

wordplay was a little simplistic
but you wasnt really tryin to dig that deep in the subject
one thing though is all races are guilty of hate and racism
some are more guilty though
people are just flat out ignorant,as a whole,over race if you ask me
but im negative

but good job with this you presented your thoughts nicely without going to far in depth,

I think this was a decent piece. Wished you would have covered certain topics a little more. You kinda changed subjects too soon. I can tell you were just venting with this poem though or it probably was the first time you wrote on this subject? Nonetheless I still enjoyed the read.

Not venting, just trying to make it... blatant. No one around here ever talks about racism towards native americans or chinese or scandanavians or anyone else, it's always black and white and although the country's history is rooted in slavery, it is annoying that we don't ever acknowledge the rest of the world.

I think you could have expanded more on this. I feel that that tone is there, waiting for you to do it with this piece. This was decent but that doesn't mean there isn't room for making it more. Thanks for sharing.
