I intend it to be funny i dont think all poetry should be so serious im trying to have some fun with it. I'm a straight male too. I just like writing about w/e i dont really care. Hardly any of my poetry is factual. from He won't do it again, to Slow Down to this piece its all just me trying to think up of other subjects to write about. my life isn't all that exciting so either i make some stuff up or take something small that happened in my life and exagerrate the shit outta of it.

it's all good to have fun with poetry and whatnot, you know, write whatever you want...But this was garbage. If your not gay, You sure are open to possibilities arent you. I din like it because I could kinda tell it wasn't really written by a gay dood. I think it is important to be able to reach any feeling and write any subject. I could write a lesbian chick, but I wouldn't do it to the point of mockery and stereotyping and I think a lot of that is in ya art hidden between the lines. It just wasn't at all believeable to me. i liked it. you intended it to be light hearted and funny and it was. even if you are not gay, i don't see a problem with what you wrote. i mean adam and steve? when i read this piece, i heard this very gay man's voice ranting in almost sterotypical fashion. and then to find out later that you are straight doesn't take away from it at all. at least you were creative enough to write it and brave enough to post it. it was just as 'fabulous' as the title.

Well I slightly disagree with my girl 'Tiah here on a few things, but some I can agree with her on as well.

I understand the idea of just playing around with your topics, and that's a good thing. Writing about something you have never written about before can be a good exercise and lead to shall we say..some interesting pieces of poetry, but I also think there is a certain amount of thought and effort that should be put in experimental pieces and this lacks that to me. I did not catch the humor in it either, and I really don't think it's a subject that should be looked at in a humerous way, especially from a straight male. I encountered gay males who would most likely be seriously offended by this piece. And I'm not big on alienating people with poetry.

Was there a 'tasteful' way you could have approached this topic. Maybe, but doubtful coming from a straight male. Just like I believe a straight female is going to come off a bit raunchy if she wrote a piece about being a lesbian. It turns into crude sexual banter. It doesn't come off as looking at the world through the eyes of a gay male and it's quite possibly not ever going to come off that way even if you wanted it to.

While I respect the fact that you're a straight male and tried to take a stab at this, it lacks all the necessary components to make it a poem IMO. It rhymes, but it doesn't say anything but poke fun at the subject at hand. There is a time for poking fun at things, but this wasn't it.

i really used to be more discriminating on same sex relationships
now i try to learn to be more accepting
but the pieces of the puzzle just do not fit for me like that

wow i didn't really think people would be bothered by this poem. i'm not trying to slam gay people. i was raised in miami for 17 years which is pretty heavily populated with gay people. i've had plenty of gay friends, straight friends, handicapped friends, w/e. im cool with everybody.

i showed this poem to gay friend of mine he just thought it was stupid funny he didnt get upset or think i went overboard. i honestly dont see what the big damn deal is.

i write about ANYthing w/e pops into my head. i admit i was poking a little fun but so what? anybody who knows me knows i like to joke but you know what? i'll also be the 1st one to poke fun at myself, my big ears, my crooked teeth, the fact that im short 5'8, that if you shave my head bald i'll look like an elf.

i have no problem poking fun at mostly any1 cuz i do it to myself as well. i know since ya'll dont know me some of you may think im hating on gay people but i assure you im not. i treat everyone equally which means i will make fun of a gay person just as much as i would a straight person or any type of person.

when i was 17 a really good friend of mine was in a car accident. he was paralyzed from the waist down and his hand was mangled so he lost his left hand.
i used to go to visit him in the hospital and read to him some. i never treated him differently than i would anybody else, i treat eevry1 the same. he became dependant on people but when he was with me he knew that he had to do things for himself. i mean i would help him if i honestly thought he needed my help otherwise im not going to baby him.

i would make fun of him too. when i finsihed reading for him, i would ask him, do i get 2 thumbs up? or i would put on music and tell him, you want to do the running man? i know i probably seem like an asshole but he would poke fun of as much as i did him.

thats just the way i am. i got hit by a car when i was 15 almsot died, when i came home from the hospital all my friends were there ready to rag on me. i dont treat any1 different and im not going to treat any1 different. if i dont poke fun at you than i am treating you differently and that means im discriminating you (i dont know if that makes sense)

and yes i do realize there are boundaries but i dont feel i crossed any.

And why is it that everyone in here claims that they give constructive critiscm and wants to be constructively criticized, but as soon as a poem is written that they dont agree with or dont like....u're ragging on people.

Poetry is art of the heart. Not art of mathmatics,philosphy or science, and thats not to say that all these things cant ever play a part in poerty....but I feel as tho a person can write what ever they want about who ever they want, whether people get offended or not....b/c its the words that came from their heart. Expressing their creativity and talen at that very moment.....

and personally i thought this piece was excellent!! Even more now that when i first read it realizing that ure not gay and were able to put ureself in anothers position and make light out of a situation that is often taken too seriously, where people are walking around on egg shells b/c they dont want to hurt others feelings...so i say do ya damn thing....cause this shit was creative....and everybody cant just write about something that theyve never experienced for themselves!!!!

It's good to be authentic. To be real. But at times, it's not imperative. This was a good READ. Witty. Funny.
