Of course because only THEY know

So….

So the dude who comes outta jail from serving time from traffic court isn’t real
And he still doesn’t have a valid driver’s license so
He can’t take that better job in Mentor and is limited to the job at the local KFC
And he’s got 2 children from a baby mamma who wants cheddar for her pockets
And she wants cheddar for her fridge
And cheat-er didn’t even come into the reality of this man’s life because
What was real was that he was taking care of his only son who looks
NOTHING LIKE HIM,
But looks sus-piciously like his best friend who isn’t so best these days
And for days,
actually months
He’s been coming around less
He says he has family stress
Which coincidently started 3 months after the baby was born
And that’s real
Real like the green eyes and birthmark that matches this dude’s best friend

But

Thinking that this woman cheated on him

Is a sin

It ain’t real

It’s a fallacy

It’s a fallacy

That this bond he feels with this boy
The love he feels when he watches him sleeping
The knowledge that when his green eyed son will crawl to him at sunrise
Knowing that his son saw God in him even at his most vulnerable
It’s not real that when he takes his green eyed son to the park with him his

Baby mamma is locking ankles around bed posts so that his real best friend can work her guts
I’m telling you, this shit aint real

It’s not real

It’s not real that when his best friend leaves the house he leaves behind drug paraphernalia
And a day later his green eyed son finds a plastic bag full of what looks like sugar
And he eats half the bag
And this sugar isn’t sweet

Have you seen a 6 month old baby overdose on cocaine?

It isn’t pretty

It looks like hope bleeding from the artery

It looks like the devil devouring your most sincere prayer to God

It looks like sin making its way into the gates of heaven

The baby begins seizing

The baby starts screaming

And he’s screaming at the top of his lungs

Shit, this can’t be real

Do 6 month old babies even know how to scream?

It’s not real

It wasn’t even his son

But that mentality is all he knew

And that mentality is what made it real



Where were THEY when they needed him?

When he sat in hospital room watching his green eyed son green like a vegetable, with vegetable brain
Brain dead
While his best friend’s guilt spilled into the room like a river damn collapsing from pressure
Knowing this boy was really his son
Knowing that he really just killed his son
Where were THEY

They who defined reality

They who made everything better by just establishing this shit wasn’t real

This can’t be real



Real like

Microwaveable pork rinds and kosher chittlins

Real like Whitney and Bobby being clean and Pamela Lee’s tits

Real like Welfare workers giving a fuck about anyone, really just wishing they could qualify to get food stamps and a check every month

Real like every dead beat dad deciding to pay child support

Real like skank hoes being housewives

Real like the nonexistence of racial profiling in suburban communities

Real like Sierra Leone being a myth

Real like LL Cool J really being the greatest of all times

Real like the pain dude saw when stared into his baby mammas eyes

Real like the pain he felt growing deep inside

Real like the forgiveness he must feel, but didn’t know why

Real like longing for his green eyed baby boy to begin to cry

Praying that the spirit of his son was in the heavenly skies



This can’t be real

When reality is only a perception of what one sees, hears, and or feels

Everything is real and

Nothing is reality

It just is what it is

And that’s real…or

^^ yeah right...lol

It wasnt any suprise that you won last month, aside from a FEW, very very FEW poems that stuck out last night none of them really compared to this poem, although, in my opinion la la came awfully close with her poem. I think it'd be good to see some of the better female poets in this realm come together and do something, a poem from la la realms and misskey would be fire...

Anyway, Focus Tiah...This poem was absolutely outstanding and I admire your ability to write like that. You are definately one of the best poet's I have ever had the privledge of ...knowing? lol.

I don't know if they know how to scream... they sure know how to wake up their parents in the middle of the night doing it though... do they even know what sugar is to look at it... who feeds their children sugar from a bag...? misskey, answer me please...?

Oh so now you tell me! Actually, no. I completely got the story you were telling there. I just didn't get why the 6 month old child thought it was a bag of sugar. Why would a 6 month old have the capacity to understand sugar. A lot of children still stick toys in their mouths at that age, don't they? So what was the catch of this whole sugar phenomena in this poem?

I understand I completely mislead you with my post. Sorry about that.
