Reminiscing
We talked today of times long past,
And how our childhood failed to last.
A time we thought would never end
When all of us were always friends.
We talked of those who came and went
And how those precious years were spent:
Of growing up and drifting apart
And friends we loved with all our hearts.
And when we entered middle school,
Trying hard to be so cool,
And of our favorite eighth grade class
Laughing to make the hour pass.
But if I could have that hour again,
With guys doing push ups counting to ten,
Of answers regarding “swords and stuff,”
Those good times didn’t last quite long enough.
Entering high school – at the bottom again:
Children becoming women and men.
Important decisions then to be made,
Making memories which slowly will fade.
We’re almost through, our time’s almost gone
For we will soon leave, we won’t stay for long
Together we stand before we go on
It’s time to go in, they’re playing our song…
Wrote this during school one day, they put it in the program at our mother/daughter thing last month. I'm so ready to graduate!
